FORMATION ACTIVITIES
Training activities are aspects of research training that aim to guarantee the acquisition of doctorate-level skills, facilitating the development and dissemination of original research.
The training activities offered by the International Doctoral School and by the different Doctoral Programs will be recognized as such for those doctoral students who take them with the approval of their thesis supervisor/supervisor, without the need for prior approval by the Academic Committee. of the Doctoral Program. As of the 2021-2022 academic year, all the details of the training activities organized by the International Doctoral School appear preloaded in RAPI. In this way, the doctoral student only has to select the activity carried out from a dropdown in “Default Activity”, incorporating your certificate of completion.
The doctoral student may also carry out training activities outside the offer of the International Doctoral School and the Doctoral Programs: eg online courses, participation in congresses, stays in other research centers, scientific publications, etc. In these cases, in addition to the approval of your thesis director/tutor, it is highly recommended to contact the Program Academic Committee in advance and obtain their approval. In this way, the doctoral student will be sure that these activities will have the approval of all the evaluators when they are incorporated into the activities notebook in RAPI and the annual evaluation is carried out.
As a guideline, a minimum of 40 hours must be completed in total, per academic year.
The combination of transversal and specific activities of each Program is recommended.

This document of activities must be reviewed regularly by the academic tutor and the thesis supervisor and must be evaluated by the Academic Committee of the doctoral program at the end of each academic year.
Once enrolled in the program, the personalized activities document will be materialized for each doctoral student for the purposes of the individual control record referred to in article 2.5. of RD 99/2011. Access to said document of activities is carried out through the RAPI application, available in the section of procedures and documentation.

The doctoral student may carry out other training activities, outside the offer of the International Doctoral School and the Doctoral Programs, such as taking online courses, participating in congresses, stays in other research centers, etc. . In these cases, in addition to the approval of the thesis director/tutor, it will be necessary to previously contact the Academic Committee of the Program and obtain its approval, so that these activities can be incorporated into the activities notebook.
As they carry out their training activities, the doctoral student must use the RAPI application to reflect their completion in the activities document, and will provide the corresponding documentary evidence. The Thesis Director will use the RAPI application to approve these activities as the student incorporates the information.
