The jury for this internal phase was composed of university professors, who supported their decision taking into account comprehension, content, commitment and communication.

The competition, organized by the Doctoral Schools of the University of Alcalá, the Autonomous University of Madrid, the Complutense University of Madrid, and the Rey Juan Carlos University, challenges participants to explain their projects to the public using clear and engaging language. In this way, the work of researchers in training is brought closer to the public, with the aim of fostering an interest in science communication and outreach. The projects encompassed all five branches of knowledge: Arts and Humanities, Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Law, and Engineering and Architecture.

The effort will be rewarded at the event's final, to be held on June 11 at Rey Juan Carlos University, with five prizes of €600 each, one for each field of knowledge. Prizes of €100 will also be awarded to all other participants who reach the final stage in each field of knowledge. The prizes are provided by the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation and the participating universities.

10th "Thesis in 3 Minutes" Competition

The Doctoral Schools of the University of Alcalá (UAH), the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC), jointly announce the X “Thesis in 3 minutes” Competition, with the aim of challenging their doctoral students to explain their research work during a limited time intervention, using simple and intelligible language that is able to reach the general public.

Beneficiaries: Doctoral students who are at least in their second year of a doctoral program at one of the five participating universities and who have passed at least one annual assessment are eligible to participate. Candidates must have the approval of their doctoral thesis supervisor when applying to participate in the competition.
