Closing ceremony of the RECYCLING URJC 4.0 project at the Móstoles Campus

The Móstoles Campus of the Rey Juan Carlos University hosted on April 28 the closing ceremony of the Service-Learning project “RECYCLING URJC 4.0: Waste Management on the Móstoles Campus”, an initiative that has combined academic training, social commitment and environmental sustainability throughout the 2025/2026 academic year.

The event brought together faculty and students from the Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering and the double degrees with Industrial Organization Engineering, Energy Engineering and Chemical Engineering, as well as the cleaning service of the Móstoles Campus and the Green Office, to highlight the work developed during the project, whose main objective has been to improve the management of waste on campus, prepare the sustainability report and raise awareness in the university community about the correct separation and minimization of waste

During the event, the project phases were briefly reviewed, with a highlight being the presentation of the diploma to the best team for their work on the sustainability report, awarded by the Professional Association of Environmental Scientists of the Community of Madrid (COAMBM). The gamification activity also took place. escape room “The Guardians of Recycling”, followed by the awards ceremony and a space to thank the collaborating people and entities.

The RECYCLING URJC 4.0 project, coordinated by Professor Beatriz Paredes Martínez and developed with the collaboration of Professors Rut Ballesteros, María Linares, Inés Moreno and Isabel Pariente, has had the fundamental support of the URJC Green Office, consolidating itself as an example of educational innovation based on the Service-Learning methodology, demonstrating the value of learning connected with the real needs of the university environment and society.
