Isabel Martínez García, finalist in the IMFAHE Global Idea Competition

The URJC continues to consolidate its commitment to academic excellence, innovation and internationalization thanks to the outstanding participation of students and researchers in the various initiatives promoted by the international platform IMFAHE (International Mentoring Foundation for the Advancement of Higher Education).

In this edition, Isabel Martínez García from the Department of Chemical and Environmental Technology (Analytical Chemistry area) of the Higher School of Experimental Sciences and Technology (ESCET) and member of the Institute of Technologies for Sustainability (ITPS) was selected as one of the top 10 doctoral students at URJC to join the IMFAHE Talent Platform. During this academic year, Isabel Martinez has become an entrepreneur, having been a finalist with her innovative project. "PeelCide" in the IMFAHE Global Idea Competition. The project developed by his team, which also includes Ignacio Bautista Roldán from the Department of Private Law and the Area of ​​History of Law and Institutions at URJC, promotes the valorization of waste products such as potato peels to create a natural biopesticide, within the context of the circular economy. This international competition brings together 20 finalist projects with 97 participants from 30 organizations in 11 countries. The competition offers $10.000 in seed capital to support the best initiatives.

Isabel Martínez's participation in IMFAHE has also had a significant impact in the field of scientific communication and research, as she has been selected as a finalist to orally present the research she is developing in her doctoral thesis at the IMFAHE Final Gala which will be held on May 25th.
