The current water situation extreme drought is highlighting the need to face the new social, economic and environmental problems associated with the scarcity of WATER resource to ensure the supply and consumption of water for the population, agriculture, industry and the generation of hydroelectric power, ensuring the environmental functioning of natural water systems.

Society, companies and the administration demand professional talent and research excellence in the water sector that are capable of facing the WATER challenges, which our society faces in a comprehensive, effective and sustainable way. 

The Coordination of the Degree in Water Resources of the Higher School of Experimental Sciences and Technology (ESCET) of the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC), this conference is organized to give visibility to society of the demand for adequately trained professionals to face the great challenge of water resource management, as a fundamental vector in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS).

As the URJC, the pioneer university in the implantation of the Degree of Water Resources In Spanish universities, it is essential to offer visibility and promote the professional sectors of the water sector, taking into account that it arises from specific training at the bachelor's, master's and doctorate levels.
