XIV Design Conference

Written by COMMUNITYMANAGER, COMMUNICATION

The Conference on Design in the Information Society is configured as a benchmark in the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University. They have been held annually since the 2009-2010 academic year and are attended by students from different degrees in the area of communication, and part of the teaching staff. With this new call, the XIV Conference on Design in the Information Society, we want to instill in the attendees, not only the importance of design, but also bring them closer to social and sustainable design for this discipline that, increasingly, it is configured as transversal and indispensable in any specialty of Communication

With this new call, the XIV Conference on Design in the Information Society, we want to instill in the attendees, not only the importance of design, but also bring them closer to social and sustainable design. For this we present a series of conferences that converge in a prototyping workshop.

It is known that creativity, innovation and design go hand in hand. But sometimes we forget other aspects of design that are just as important as its efficiency in communication, the sale of a product, or its beauty. Good design can, and should, be in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (in this way, if we think of cities, a building can be not only habitable and architecturally elegant, but also manage to maintain or improve the quality of life of the environment in which it is located) and social design, providing solutions to problems of our day to day.

Although it seems like something that should concern us all, including companies, it is not always the case. Social and sustainable design is a trend that is gradually being introduced into the world of private business, through the strengthening of Corporate Social Responsibility. Although this concept is not new, it does not seem to concern some companies, which are now beginning to pay attention to it, often in response to consumer demands.

Finally, and in line with previous years, we want to be a benchmark that brings together, not only students from our degrees, but also a hook for students from other specialties and universities.
