Last Friday, December 16, the URJC students had the opportunity to learn about the graphic production processes with movable type at the Plómez Family Workshop.
Located in the Barrio de la Latina, the Plómez Family is an association dedicated to preserving and disseminating printing procedures before the era of digitalization, organizing workshops and different types of educational activities.
The informative activities have been carried out by Roberto Gamonal, one of the people in charge of organizing the workshop activities, as well as a university professor in the area of design and journalism. Likewise, the activity has been organized by the Aula Agencia FCCOM, within the framework of training and informative activities that it organizes throughout the academic year.
Several students from different disciplines and campuses were able to attend the activity, where they were able to see first-hand what the printing processes with movable type -wooden and metal- were like decades ago, before the advent of digital printing, as well as being able to see the applications that they have today, more with a more artistic and creative approach, as we can see in This Video Produced by FCCOM.
Within the activities organized by the association, there are informative workshops and conferences on the history and procedures in movable type machines.
