This second congress follows in the wake of the DIGRAES21 held at Tecnocampus, in December 2021 and which inaugurated the DiGRA Spain chapter with a meeting that focused on Game Studies in Spain. In DIGRAES23, new fields of videogames in Spain are addressed, a medium that, due to its clear international dominance, often overshadows the work of professionals and academics in our country. We believe that it is necessary to bring to light, both in this congress and in future ones, the reality of a sector that is emerging as a leader in the media landscape of the XNUMXst century but that does not have spaces for discussion and debate with the serenity and depth that reflection requires. academic, outside the media circuits and commercial channels.
We will address topics such as the approaches that the history of the video game in Spain has had up to now, the perception of the video game as a cultural product from administrations, media studies and professionals, or the role of the country's cultural identities in video games. DIGRAES23 presents varied methodological contributions and contributions on different forms of gaming, whether analog or digital, in the Spanish context.
