On Thursday, March 5, a scientific session was held in which the Christopher He delivered a lecture entitled “Design of P2X7 Purinergic Receptor Antagonists and Their Therapeutic Versatility: A University Perspective.” P2X7 is a protein encoded by the P2RX7 gene; the product of this gene belongs to the ATP purinoceptor family. In his lecture, Cristobal began by outlining his research experience—and that of his research group—on the structure/activity relationships of this purinoceptor for the development of new drugs for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases targeting specific biological targets.
