Posted by FMR

The document is coordinated by the Spanish Society of General and Family Physicians and by LongCovidACTS

Professionals and patients collaborate in a clinical guide for patient care with persistent COVID.

A total of 48 clinical societies, scientific-medical associations and patient associations collaborate in the document. The document has been promoted by the Spanish Society of General and Family Physicians (SEMG) and patient groups Long COVID Acts (twitter: @longcovidspain).

The document addresses the care of people with persistent COVID or Long COVD. These individuals present with signs and symptoms that develop during or after an infection consistent with COVID-19, persist for more than 4-12 weeks, and are not explained by an alternative diagnosis.

This Guide is intended to be a dynamic document, which will be renewed according to scientific evidence, with the mission of supporting decision-making by health professionals and thus improving patient care.

The document describes the involvement, physical examination and diagnostic tests. In addition, it offers therapeutic approach recommendations from the different disciplines:

  • nursing care
  • Potential systemic treatments
  • Treatments for nutritional deficiencies
  • Treatments depending on the symptom
  • Physiotherapy
  • Physical rehabilitation
  • psychological intervention
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Logopedia
  • Physical exercise prescription
  • Vaccination
  • Tracking
