The Faculty of Health Sciences opens an exhibition with "Vaccinating Two Centuries and Adding Up!"

Posted by FMR

The exhibition, based on the homonymous book, illustrates in an informative way the history and evolution of vaccines

The Faculty of Health Sciences hosts the exhibition “Vaccinating Two centuries and counting!”, based on the book of the same name, the work of pharmacists Raquel Carnero Gomez and Luis Marcos Nogales, with illustrations by Inigo Ansola and published by Editions University of Salamanca.

The informative exhibition, which will be installed in Exhibition Hall of the Management Building, consists of nine panels that address the most relevant topics of the book. The "truths and lies" and "do you have any questions?" stand out, in addition to the one dedicated to the vaccination schedule in our country. It is intended for the general public, like the book, and can be enjoyed until next November 26, 2021. The exhibition will open on November 8 at 12 noon.

The work, with informative and very graphic content, combines clear and entertaining information with a powerful graphic section. In it, the authors tell from the history of vaccines, to the most frequent doubts, going through the vaccination calendar, vaccination in other countries, diseases... "A book that is an infallible vaccine against misinformation, a very contagious and sometimes even deadly disease”, specifies its author, Raquel Carnero.

For more than two and a half years, this exhibition has already been installed in more than 60 different locations, in ten Autonomous Communities, including several hospitals, such as the Clinical Hospital of Valladolid, the University Assistance Complex of Salamanca, the Navarra Hospital Complex, Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital in Santander, institutions such as the Valladolid Science Museum and the Natural Sciences Museum of the University of Navarra, as well as in cultural centers, faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Nursing, as well as in educational centers and institutes.

The health communication project is also present on social media (Instagram: @vacunando and Twitter: @vacunando #DosSiglosyAumando) and it is completed with the recent publication of a book on antibiotic resistance, called Antibiotics vs bacteria. From resistance to counterattack, published by Larousse.

This is a good opportunity for the students and professors of the Faculty to enjoy scientific dissemination with content that, in turn, provides information for the health of all citizens and that comes at a crucial moment in the campaign of vaccination against COVID-19 and the beginning of the seasonal flu vaccination campaign.
