The VIII Scientific Congress of Interdisciplinary Competencies in Health Sciences is held at the FCS with a good reception

El VIII Scientific Congress of Interdisciplinary Competencies in Health Sciences It is already a regular activity in the FCS.

This edition, directed by the Professor Angel Lizcano Alvarez, Vice Dean of Academic Planning of the FCS, has discussed the interdisciplinary approach in nursing homes during the pandemic. 

La morning session, which was held online, was attended by various health professionals who have worked in nursing homes during the pandemic. The participants were: Paula A. Virgili López (doctor at the Amavir Alcorcón nursing home), Laura Vaillo García (nurse at the Villaviciosa de Odón nursing home), Cristina Hortelano Martínez (occupational therapist at the Sanitas Las Rozas nursing home ), María Salcedo Pérez (physiotherapist at the Rivas nursing home) and Sara Reviera Navarro (psychologist at the Sanitas Las Rozas nursing home). In the gathering, the speakers discussed and reflected on their experiences in residences during the pandemic. This colloquium was attended by 27 people. 

La evening session It was held in person and was opened by the Dean of the FCS, Ms. Carmen Gallardo Pino. 35 people attended the event. The session was organized in two tables, in the first the experiences and experiences in nursing homes in Covid-19 were discussed from a more transversal perspective, by having the opinion of residence managers, residents, family members and journalists. Professor Josué Fernández Carnero moderated the table. 

In the second table, this topic was addressed from the point of view of the FCS students, who carried out a survey through microsoft forms to gather information from other colleagues about the experiences lived in the residences during the pandemic. The student debate was coordinated by Professor Domingo Palacios Ceña and the table was moderated by Professor Rosa Martínez Piédrola.

Ultimately, The activity was a success of coordination that involved students, teachers, residents of the social health centers for the elderly, managers, journalists, etc. A whole range of links with the subject in question that managed to draw definitive conclusions on the impact of Covid-19 on the elderly living in residences and on the health professionals in charge of their care. Learning from these experiences and not forgetting is what remains for us to improve our performance in the future
