Purpose of the processing of personal data

The purpose for which the URJC treats personal data will depend on each treatment. The specific processing of personal data that is carried out at the University, and its purposes are specified in the Record of Treatment Activities, which is constantly updated.

For information purposes, some of the purposes for which the URJC processes personal data are highlighted here:

  • Management and organization of university teaching and carrying out the procedures and functions related to the above, established by Organic Law 6/2001, of December 21, on Universities and the URJC Statutes established by Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, of the University System and the Statutes of the URJC.

Bases of legitimacy of data processing

The URJC treats the personal data of users in a lawful and transparent manner and in accordance with the bases of legitimacy established in article 6 RGPD.

Such bases, of which due information will be provided in each case to the users, are mainly:

  • The satisfaction of the educational public interest and the provision of the corresponding public service by the University

Data retention

Personal data will be kept for the periods necessary to satisfy the intended purposes and, in all, in compliance with legal requirements and that are specified for each treatment in the Record of Treatment Activities of the URJC.

Communications of personal data

The personal data processed by the University may be transferred, among others, in the following cases:

  • to the competent Public Administrations by reason of educational management.
  • to financial entities in relation to the management of payments and collections derived from relations with staff, students, suppliers and other interested parties.
  • to the bodies of the Social Security Administration, the tax administration and the Judges and Courts.
  • to external entities that carry out university extension work - cultural, sports, among other purposes - for the University.

Rights of the interested parties

The interested party can exercise their rights of access, rectification, deletion, limitation of treatment, data portability and opposition before the Rey Juan Carlos University.
