Presentation
This expert course lasts 120 hours and thus meets the requirements established by the applicable regulations on mediation for its recognition by the Ministry of Justice and registration of those who pass it in the Register of Mediators.
The increasing complexity of social, economic, and cultural relations in our environment demands effective conflict management and resolution mechanisms that go beyond traditional litigation. The recent Organic Law 1/2025 promotes a regulatory framework that strengthens the use of appropriate alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods, consolidating their value as instruments of social cohesion, procedural efficiency, and access to justice. Furthermore, it mandates the use of these methods as a prerequisite for admissibility. Thus, civil and commercial lawsuits can only be filed if prior use of these methods is demonstrated.
From a scientific and professional perspective, this course responds to the need to provide lawyers, psychologists, mediators and other operators with updated, interdisciplinary and practical knowledge that allows them to confidently face the challenges arising from the implementation of mediation as one of the means of dispute resolution contemplated by Organic Law 1/2025.
The course is endorsed by Rey Juan Carlos University and the MASC Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the use of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods. The Institute provides specialized training personnel, management expertise in ADR and mediation, and professional and institutional relations in this field. Indeed, its members have developed and provided specialized services in arbitration and mediation courts, insolvency proceedings, commercial mediation, and negotiation services for contracts and dispute resolution.
Objectives
The main objective of the course is to provide comprehensive and specialized training on mediation as an appropriate method of dispute resolution (ADR), within the framework of Organic Law 1/2025, in order to train legal and other professionals and operators in the effective, ethical and modern management of conflicts, promoting a culture of dialogue, consensus and access to justice.

Recipients
access requirements
Holders of Bachelor's, Double Bachelor's and Higher Vocational Training Cycle qualifications related to the subject, in application of the applicable mediation regulations.
Students enrolled in a Bachelor's or Double Degree who have a maximum of 30 ECTS credits of an official university degree in Spain whose profile matches the functions legally provided for in the corresponding field will be able to access conditionally. In this case, no type of certification will be obtained until it is proven that one is in possession of the official university degree required for access to postgraduate education.
Exceptionally, these professional studies may also be accessed by those without a previous official university degree that accredits work experience in this field. In this case, they may only opt for a diploma or a university extension certificate with the same name and number of credits as this Degree, in accordance with the equivalence table included in the Annex I of the Own Teaching Regulations of the Rey Juan Carlos University.
Selection criteria
In the event that the number of applications exceeds the number of places offered, a selection will be made based on the following objectively weighted criteria as stated:
1. Professional career: 30%
2. Academic record: 35%
3. Experience in negotiation and ADR. 20%
4. Experience in other branches of knowledge: Law, Psychology, Negotiation, Public and Institutional Relations 15%

The start of the course is subject to the minimum number (22) of enrolled students.

The documentation that you will have to submit is the following:
Students with a degree obtained from a Spanish university or a Higher Education Institution belonging to another Member State of the European Higher Education Area that provides access to continuing education courses must submit the following documentation:
- National Identity Document or equivalent
- University Degree of the studies that give you access to the requested postgraduate degree. *
- Curriculum vitae
- Responsible declaration of veracity of the data provided in digital format
- Any other document required by the Academic Department of Continuing Education for acceptance.
Students with foreign qualifications must submit the following documentation:
- Passport or Residence Card
- Foreign Higher Education Degree (Graduate, Bachelor's Degree, Architect, Engineer, Doctor...) that gives access to continuing education studies. *
- Curriculum vitae
- Responsible declaration of veracity of the data provided in digital format
- Any other document required by the Academic Department of Continuing Education for acceptance
* A university degree (bachelor's or bachelor's degree) is required to access both Master's and Expert and Specialist courses. However, on some occasions the possibility is considered for people without a previous university degree but who can demonstrate professional experience related to the subject of the course to access it.
This possibility must be included in the corresponding academic report and will be subject in all cases to the decision of the Course Director. People who access through this route will only receive a Diploma or a Certificate of University Extension depending on the case.
