Today, Transparency and accountability in the business world are essentialCompanies of all sizes face the need to report on the risks and opportunities that the environment presents to their financial situation, as well as the impacts of their activities on the environment and people. Regulations such as Law 11/2018 in Spain, the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), and recent regulatory developments resulting from the Omnibus proposals in the European Union constitute a regulatory framework that strengthens corporate transparency. This framework also extends to all companies, even those not legally required to produce this information due to market demands, the value chain, financial institutions, or even public administrations. Therefore, it is essential to understand the regulations, not only those aimed at large companies, but also the voluntary European standard that has become the benchmark for most European businesses.

This course is aimed at students with a previous university degree who are looking to specialise in the preparation and verification of sustainability reports. Candidates are expected to have a solid foundation in topics related to sustainability, data analysis and an understanding of the current regulations in this area.

Students who have already passed either of the first two editions of the course organized by the CGE will need to follow the registration instructions that appear in the following linkIn any case, they must also pass the final in-person exam for the corresponding modules on March 16, 2027, as well as mandatory attendance at 80% of the live sessions, along with completing the evaluation tests on the platform, in order to obtain the certificate.

Students with a previous university degree, who are looking to specialize in the preparation and verification of sustainability reports. Candidates are expected to have a solid foundation in sustainability-related topics, data analysis, and an understanding of current regulations in this area.

Students enrolled in a Bachelor's or Double Degree who have a maximum of 30 ECTS credits of an official university degree in Spain whose profile matches the functions legally provided for in the corresponding field will be able to access conditionally. In this case, no type of certification will be obtained until it is proven that one is in possession of the official university degree required for access to postgraduate education.

Exceptionally, they will also be able to access these professional studies without a previous official university degree that certifies work experience in this field. In this case, they will only be eligible for a diploma or a university extension certificate with the same name and number of credits as this Title, in accordance with the equivalence table included in Annex I of the Own Teaching Regulations of the Rey Juan University. Carlos.   

Selection criteria

In the event that the number of applications exceeds the number of places offered, a selection will be made based on the following objectively weighted criteria as stated:

  1. Degree affinity: The affinity of the student's academic degree will be assessed between 0% and 25%, with the maximum score being awarded to degrees with programs most closely related to the course objectives. Possession of a degree that qualifies for membership in a College of Economists or Business Professionals, or any other university degree (diploma, bachelor's degree and/or degree) will be an asset.
  2. Academic record: The academic record may receive a score between 0% and 25%, with the highest weighting going to students who have obtained the highest grades or average marks.
  3. English level: The level of English and, where applicable, other languages, will be assessed on a scale between 0% and 25%, with the highest score being awarded to students with a C1 or higher recognised through an official certificate.
  4. CV and motivation letter: The student's attitudinal and vocational aspects will be weighted between 0% and 25% through his/her CV and motivation letter, with the highest scores going to students with potentials closest to the orientation of the Course. Professional experience in the field of financial economics and accounting or in the preparation and verification of non-financial information or in matters of sustainability will be valued.
