The general objective of the URJC Human Rights Office is to generate the necessary bases to create a 'culture' in Human Rights at the Rey Juan Carlos University through different lines of work.
In the awareness section, the so-called URJC Human Rights Meetings are framed, organized in collaboration with various public and private organisations.
To "teach and train" in Human Rights, during the course various activities are developed at the University aimed at educating in Human Rights, promoting the active participation of the entire University Community.
Finally, to promote values through action, during the course various activities are developed at the University aimed at promoting values and actions related to Human Rights.
Inform and raise awareness
In the awareness section, the so-called URJC Human Rights Meetings, organized in collaboration with various public and private organizations. These are dialogues-colloquiums in which experts participate who explain and open the debate on the main existing problems in the field of Human Rights, on the obstacles that prevent their realization and the new challenges that currently arise.
Services
The services of the Human Rights Office include:
- Carrying out dialogues-colloquiums with experts in the area of Human Rights.
- Make known the new challenges that currently arise in the field of Human Rights and expose the obstacles that prevent their implementation.
- Promote the active participation of the entire University Community by carrying out activities aimed at educating in Human Rights.
- Collaborate with public and private organizations to hold and promote meetings on Human Rights that encourage debate and awareness.
- Disseminate the offer of activities aimed at promoting values and actions related to Human Rights.
Objectives
Inform and raise awareness. It is necessary to cover the lack of existing information in the field of Human Rights, with the subsequent purpose of sensitizing the university community about the relevance of achieving the still pending goals.
Teach and train. The university is an environment conducive to training in an essential field such as Human Rights, considered one of the transversal elements that structure the objectives defined in the 2030 Agenda.
Promote values through action. During the course, various activities aimed at promoting values and actions related to Human Rights are developed at the University.
About Us
The URJC Human Rights Program was born in February 2014 with the aim of generating the necessary foundations to create a "Culture" in human rights within the institutional framework of the Rey Juan Carlos University. Later it was constituted as the Human Rights Office.
With an eye on the need to spread the content and scope of human rights among the university community, promote respect for such rights through education and acquire the collective commitment of the institution and staff of the members that make up the URJC.
Every year the Call for funding of Projects on Education for Global Citizenship and Human Rights of the Rey Juan Carlos University is published, which aims to finance, partially or totally, for the development of projects whose purpose is teaching. , training and promotion of Education for Global Citizenship and Human Rights, as well as the promotion of the values of the culture of peace and democratic values among the URJC university community. The projects subject to funding can be developed both by departments or groups exclusively from the URJC, or in collaboration with other universities or entities.
