URJC Healthy University website

Healthy University was born in 2008 with the general objective of offering all members of the university community a service that contributes to improving their biopsychosocial health.

Our work is aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles, emphasizing the formation of personal skills that allow us to take care of our health and well-being as active agents.

One of the keys to our work is to be permeable to the demands of the people who are part of our university community to offer activities that are really useful for those who receive them. In this sense, we strongly encourage proposals and the exchange of ideas to build our daily work.

Services

Seminars and workshops on socio-emotional skills (Emotional Intelligence, Public Speaking, Interpersonal Relations and Social Skills, Self-esteem, Personal Growth, Study Techniques, Healthy Relationships, Stress Management, Teamwork...). Two modalities: face-to-face and online.

  • Health campaigns: sexual health, nutrition, physical activity, abuse of technology...
  • Health promotion activities in collaboration with other entities such as the Red Cross, Mapfre Foundation, etc.
  • Collaboration of students as health promoting agents: if you have a proposal, send it to us and we will evaluate it.
  • Actions aimed at promoting a healthy environment within the URJC, collaborating transversally with other services or units.
  • Develop and share resources on the web to improve our health. Throughout the course, useful materials will be provided to improve our health (guides, exercises, links of interest, recommended bibliography...)

Objectives

We pursue five fundamental objectives:

  • 1.- Promote basic healthy habits as pillars within our routines: food, rest, physical activity, emotional management... are fundamental pillars for our well-being and balance.
  • 2.- Contribute to the construction of personal skills that help people feel better and function optimally in their day-to-day: our activities are aimed at all people who want to get to know each other and improve their tools.
  • 3.- Enrich the comprehensive training of students as future professionalsEmotional and relational skills are increasingly valued in the job market, which is why we believe that it is a value of the URJC to offer our students the opportunity to work on them during their training.
  • 4.- Contribute to the “culture of health” within the university, promoting collective and institutional practices that promote health.
  • 5.- Promote networking with other universities and institutions that enrich our potential and resources.

About Us

The Healthy University Office has been led since 2009 by Ainhoa Romero and Silvia Cruz, two psychologists with extensive training in health. We believe in our work, in the importance of offering you useful resources and being a reference to consult with us about possible difficulties that may arise to help you find solutions.

Emotional management, relationships with others, performance in complicated situations, such as public speaking, teamwork or overcoming difficulties related to studies, work or personal life, are some of the necessary skills that we work on.

On the other hand, from the Healthy University Program we collaborate to make the URJC a health-promoting environment for the people who work and study there, collaborating in a network with the rest of the Spanish universities.

Linked SDGs

Although we try to work across the SDGs, our service especially enhances:

SDG3: Health and Well-being.

SDG4: Quality education for all.

The URJC belongs to the Spanish Network of Healthy Universities (REUS) and the Madrid Network (REMUS), networks that enrich the individual work carried out by each of the universities to be environments that promote health and well-being (SDG3).

We are firm advocates of emotional education (SDG4) as a pillar to improve our health and take charge of ourselves and change what harms us, this being the main demand that we try to cover since it is demanded of us.
