What knowledge will I acquire with this Master?
This master's degree has a professional orientation, given that the main reason that justifies the relevance of the degree is the need to train cultural information professionals in response to market demands. Journalists specializing in specific fields are in demand and needed in response to the growing segmentation of the public targeted by current media. And the field of cultural specialization is pertinent due to the growing importance of the sector related to cultural management and creation, and above all, due to the incorporation of culture into the digital field. This digitization of culture also makes the specialization of the information professional in the new trends of cultural information relevant, not only because culture acquires new ways of expressing itself but because journalism, and cultural journalism as well, acquires new formats and spread through new media.

Students who have possession of an official Spanish university degree or another issued by a higher education institution of the European Higher Education Area that authorizes access to Master's degrees in the country that issued the degree.
Objectives
The general objective is to expand the student's training with a higher level of specialization in the field of journalism, and more specifically in the field of cultural journalism, which trains the student in informative and dissemination functions in a professional environment, making special emphasis on the application of information technologies in the various fields of cultural management and information.
As more specific objectives, the master's degree proposes:
- Seek a rational and critical knowledge of the cultural reality that allows the student to understand it, transmit it and spread it in an understandable way to the rest of society.
- Seek training in the search, identification, selection and collection techniques of information within the field of cultural specialization, as well as the methods of critically examining any kind of source, document and fact related to cultural events with the purpose, for On the one hand, to treat them conveniently and, on the other, to transform them into information of interest through the informative-communicative languages required by the different media (written, audiovisual, digital)
- Allow students to be able to define, plan and develop an informative-cultural project adapted to multiple supports
- Enable the student with tools and habits of research and analysis of the cultural reality that allow him to extract from it relevant information for decision-making in the field of communication and marketing management of cultural institutions or projects.
- Train the student to identify cultural needs and be able to design, develop, disseminate and/or evaluate cultural projects and products related to communication.
- Stimulate debate regarding the challenges related to cultural management and dissemination and the changes introduced by technology in the production, marketing and consumption of cultural products and services.

Admission and enrollment
Admission:
The requirements for access to the proposed title are according to article 18, of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28:
- Possession of an official Spanish Graduate or Graduate university degree or equivalent is a condition for accessing a Master's Degree, or, where appropriate, having another University Master's degree, or titles of the same level as the Spanish Bachelor's or Master's degree issued by universities and higher education institutions in an EHEA country that in that country allow access to Master's degrees.
- In the same way, people in possession of titles from educational systems that are not part of the EHEA, which are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, will be able to access a Master's Degree in the Spanish university system, without the need for homologation of the title, but verification by of the university of the level of training that they imply, as long as in the country where said title was issued it allows access to university postgraduate level studies. In no case will access through this route imply the homologation of the previous degree held by the person concerned or its recognition for other purposes than that of carrying out the Master's degree.
Preferred income profiles:
The preferred entry profile is students with a graduate degree in Journalism, and undergraduate degrees in Audiovisual Communication and Advertising and Public Relations will also be considered equivalent, after a specific study.
In addition, with the same exceptions, graduates in the different degrees in the area of Social and Legal Sciences will be considered: especially degrees in Education, Economics or Sociology. Or those of the remaining graduates in the area of Arts and Humanities, for example: the degrees Humanities, History of Art, Fine Arts, Contemporary History, Anthropology, Philology... In special cases, the curricular composition of the degree will be studied or of the 240 ECTS credits or equivalent that the applicant accredits.
Likewise, graduates in Audiovisual Communication, Journalism and Advertising and Public Relations will be able to access directly. In addition to the graduates in Humanities, Art History, Fine Arts, Contemporary History, Anthropology, Philologies, Documentation. Graduates in Economics or Law (or other qualifications that may be considered related to these).
The access of graduates will be studied and facilitated, especially graduates in Education, Teaching, Library Science and related subjects.
Regarding the administrative criteria for admission and equivalencies for students with foreign degrees as well as national students without a completed degree, but with recognized credits, the provisions of national and regional legislation and the regulations of the Rey Juan University will be followed. Carlos, whose competent commission, together with the teaching direction of the Master, will study the credits taken by the applicant to gauge their training.
The selection of the applicants is carried out by the Head of the Master and will be through the presentation of a curriculum and a statement of reasons for their inclusion in the master. Therefore, their personal interests will be valued, as well as the coherence and relevance of their interests within the thematic areas of the Master. In the second instance, the curricular design of the student and her formal and professional learning trajectory will be assessed.
Conditions or special access tests:
The admission criteria will first assess the formal learning trajectory, prioritizing degrees related to journalism and communication sciences, without distinction between graduates and graduates. Students who have completed postgraduate courses in the field of communication will be included in this weighting. The academic result and the center of origin will be valued from their training, giving priority to students who have studied at a public university and, especially, at the Rey Juan Carlos University. In the second instance, her professional career will be assessed from the applicant's curriculum and her link with the work environment related to culture or the journalistic profession will be positively valued. Thirdly, the student's personal interests and their coherence and relevance with the thematic areas of the Master will be assessed.
In the case of foreign students, special attention will be paid to their command of the Spanish language, and it will be necessary to provide in the documentation to be delivered a Certificate of Spanish Language B2 - DELE Intermediate or equivalent, in addition, if necessary, they may request to pass a spoken and written level test.
In any case, these systems and procedures must include, in the case of students with specific educational needs derived from disability, the appropriate support and counseling services, which will evaluate the need for possible curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies.
The admission will not imply, in any case, any modification of the academic effects and, where appropriate, professionals that correspond to the previous degree held by the interested party, nor its recognition for other purposes than that of pursuing Master's degrees.
Offer of places: 60 seats. If the minimum number of students envisaged is not reached in a course, the University may choose not to open the teaching group.

The External Practices subject is a curricular subject whose main objective is to promote a comprehensive training of the student through the practical application of the knowledge acquired during the master's degree, which facilitates direct contact with the professional activity and the opportunity to join the professional world with a minimum of experience. All practices are designed so that the students who participate in them acquire professional experience in real situations and conditions, applying the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are acquired in the training processes throughout the degree. The internships represent a decisive opportunity for the personal development and professional future of the students.
Internships are activities carried out by the student in companies, institutions and organizations; that is, in centers outside the university premises, which aim to enrich and complement your university education, while providing you with a deeper knowledge about the skills you will need once you have graduated.
The External Practices subject will consist of two phases:
- Completion of the internship period that offers professional experience related to any of the graduate profiles that are expressed in the Verification Report of the degree.

El scholarship application deadline expands until the 16 of May of 2022. The student must apply for the scholarship even without being enrolled in the next course and even without knowing how many subjects he is going to pass in the current course.

CHAPTER V. Academic requirements. Article 28. Number of enrollment credits.
7. Students who enroll in the first year of a Master's Degree without having obtained a Bachelor's degree, as established in article 18.4 of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28, which establishes the organization of university education and the quality assurance procedure, may obtain a scholarship, provided they prove to be in possession of the aforementioned Bachelor's degree as of December 31, 2022.

For which studies can you apply for a scholarship?
You can apply for a scholarship if you think you are going to enroll in the 2022-2023 academic year at any of the following levels:
- university education for bachelor's and master's degrees.
Not included in this call for scholarships:
- Third cycle studies or doctorate
- Specialization studies
- University titles.
Indefinite subjects at the URJC (TFG, TFM, RAC, Modern Language and External Practices)
In the event that a student has enrolled in the subject of indefinite duration in an academic year and has not been examined, he or she must renew enrollment for successive courses, paying only the secretarial fees and school insurance, if applicable. The student who fails must re-enroll the subject as a second enrollment (third or fourth).
How do Indefinite Subjects affect the Ministry Scholarship?
Students taking indefinite courses (TFG, TFM, RAC, Modern Language and External Practices) They should know that, if you have not applied or they have not graded it in the current course and even if you do not have to pay the registration fee for said subject again in the following course, those credits would count as not passed for the ministry's scholarships.
Example: in the case of Modern Language, the student who has registered for the subject and who has some specific particularity (for example, who is an applicant for the MEC Scholarship) will have to take into account the requirements of said particularity when applying. decide when to enroll in a course of the subject (for example, if the MEC scholarship asks for a % of credits passed over the credits enrolled and the student enrolls but does not enroll in a group, the credits will appear for scholarship purposes as credits enrolled , but not yet passed in that academic year and this may harm you when obtaining said scholarship).
Cancellation, extension or modification of registration for scholarship applicants at the URJC
Those students who have applied for a scholarship must take into account that they can only request cancellation and/or change of subjects, which implies a reduction in credits, within the first set deadline. In the second term they will not be able to request a reduction in the number of credits initially registered.
Change of subjects: All those students who have applied for a Scholarship from the Ministry of Education must bear in mind that, in the second period of modification, they can only request the change between subjects with the same or higher number of credits, in no case lower.
Cancellation of subjects: Those who wish to request the cancellation of subjects already enrolled must check said subjects. All those students who have applied for a Scholarship from the Ministry of Education must take into account that, in the second modification period, it is not possible to apply the cancellation of subjects.
Extension of subjects: The student who wishes to request the extension of subjects in his registration must check said subjects. All those who have applied for a Scholarship from the Ministry of Education must take into account that, in the second modification period, it is possible to apply the extension of subjects.
Important information: Enrollment increase and reduction for students with a scholarship from the Ministry of Education
It will be considered that the student has only full registration when you are enrolled in all the credits corresponding to the course of your training itinerary. In this case, you will be eligible for all the aid from the Ministry of Education Scholarship. On the contrary, if the established number of credits is not reached, they will only opt for the amounts of Registration y Minimum Variable, when considered partial enrollment.

How much money can you receive for your scholarship
The scholarship is the sum of different components. To calculate how much corresponds to you, you must bear in mind that the scholarship consists of a fixed amount of money (fixed amounts) and a variable amount of money (variable amount).
Fixed quantity

Take into account the following remarks:

Renewal of accreditation
The renewal of the accreditation represents the culmination of the implementation process of the official Bachelor's and Master's degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT).
