The Master develops knowledge aimed at training top-level professionals, capable of solving complex decision-making problems and leading teams in the Information and Knowledge Society, in order to improve the organizations in which they are involved.

Recommended income profile

Students who have possession of an official Spanish university degree or another issued by a higher education institution of the European Higher Education Area that authorizes access to Master's degrees in the country that issued the degree.

Objectives

Train top-level professionals, capable of solving complex decision-making problems and leading teams in the Information and Knowledge Society, in order to improve the organizations in which they are involved.

Competences

That the student acquires sufficient knowledge and basic understanding to develop and apply original ideas in the context of the Research. Evaluation: Reading and presentation of relevant research works in the field, as well as proposals for their improvement. If the knowledge were very theoretical, it could be evaluated by taking exams;
That the student is able to apply their knowledge and understanding, as well as their skills to solve problems, in new or unfamiliar environments and in broad contexts, dialoguing with professionals/researchers from other fields such as doctors, economists, engineers, sociologists, political scientists, computer scientists, etc. Evaluation: Realization and exhibition of works in which problems with multidisciplinary needs are solved;
That the student is able to reflect on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments. Assessment: Completion of work and participation of the student in forums on social issues;
That the student is able to communicate their conclusions, knowledge and the conceptual framework on which they are based, clearly and unambiguously, both to expert and non-expert audiences. Evaluation: Exhibition of works and participation in forums;
That the student develop learning skills that allow them to continue their training. Assessment: Reading and carrying out innovative works that include novel themes.

Specific skills

CE01 - That the student is able to develop and apply original ideas in the area of decision-making support, using data analysis and Operations Research tools and models.
CE02 - That the student is capable of leading multidisciplinary teams in order to face and solve decision-making problems.
CE03 - That the student acquires the ability to integrate knowledge, face complexity, as well as formulate judgments based on uncertain information through data analysis tools, all based on socially responsible utility functions.
CE04 - In the context of general competence 4, the student is able to fully justify the alternatives/decisions that must be made to all types of audiences.
CE05 - That the student is able to continue their training in the field of Decision Engineering Systems, through the use of cutting-edge publications.

Admission and enrollment

Admission

The requirements for access to the proposed title are according to article 18, of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28:

Possession of an official Spanish Graduate or Graduate university degree or equivalent is a condition for accessing a Master's Degree, or, where appropriate, having another University Master's degree, or titles of the same level as the Spanish Bachelor's or Master's degree issued by universities and higher education institutions in an EHEA country that in that country allow access to Master's degrees.
In the same way, people in possession of titles from educational systems that are not part of the EHEA, which are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, will be able to access a Master's Degree in the Spanish university system, without the need for homologation of the title, but verification by of the university of the level of training that they imply, as long as in the country where said title was issued it allows access to university postgraduate level studies. In no case will access through this route imply the homologation of the previous degree held by the person concerned or its recognition for other purposes than that of carrying out the Master's degree.

Candidate selection:

GENERAL ACCESS CRITERIA:

The specific qualifications that will facilitate access to the Master in Decision Engineering online (non-face-to-face) are the following:

Degrees in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration and Management, as well as studies related to those mentioned.

For students with the title of Computer Science Engineer, Technical Engineer in Computer Management or Technical Engineer in Computer Systems, the preferential criteria for admission will be the academic record and work experience.

For students from other undergraduate degrees, the admission criteria will include the affinity of the study plans of the universities of origin and letters of recommendation from the academic or professional field, which will be assessed by the Admission Commission.

CONDITIONS OR SPECIAL ACCESS TESTS:

The carrying out of specific tests for the access of graduates superior to this title is not contemplated. Of course, it will be valued that the degree that the students have is related to the degree offered.

If necessary, the student's curriculum will be assessed, based on their professional experience, their projection in relation to the objectives of the master's degree, as well as their academic record.

Offer of places: 45 seats. If the minimum number of students envisaged is not reached in a course, the University may choose not to open the teaching group.

Improvement actions

The Quality Assurance System of the Rey Juan Carlos University establishes that the degree's Quality Assurance Commission will annually analyze the information derived from the degree's indicators and prepare a report that will include improvement plans if the results so indicate.

Renewal of accreditation

The renewal of the accreditation represents the culmination of the implementation process of the official Bachelor's and Master's degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT). The renewal of the accreditation of official bachelor's and master's degrees is organized in three phases: self-assessment report, external visit and final assessment.

In the first phase, the university describes and assesses the status of the degree with respect to the established criteria and guidelines. The result is the Self-Assessment Report (IA) that is presented. The second and third phases are carried out by a group of evaluators external to the evaluated title.”
