The conference opened with a plenary lecture by Professor Carmen Galán Rodríguez (University of Extremadura), entitled "María Moliner, the life that beats in words," followed by the official opening ceremony with representatives from the university and the organizing committee. Speakers included Mr. Miguel Ángel Esparza Torres (Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities), Ms. Araceli Rodríguez Mateos (Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs), Ms. Elena Battaner Moro (Vice-Dean for Research and Library), and Ms. Ana Segovia Gordillo (Organizing Committee).
Over the three days, the program included lectures, roundtables, and specialized presentations, covering everything from 19th-century musical and medical lexicography to the teaching of foreign languages and grammar in Ibero-American contexts. National and international projects were also presented, such as the Virtual Library of Spanish Philology and the platform Portugaliae Monumenta Linguistica (PML).
The roundtables served as spaces for debate on the role of the SEHL and its institutional history. Of particular note was the session dedicated to the Society's Secretariat and Treasurer, in which those who have held the SEHL Secretary-Treasurer positions participated, such as Professor Elena Battaner Moro and Professor Víctor Acevedo López (both from the Department of General Linguistics). The panel entitled "From the AJIHLE to the SEHL: A Round Trip," which reviewed the Society's historiographical history with the help of young researchers.
The conference included a social celebration in which a heartfelt tribute was paid to all the presidents who, over thirty years, have fought to give linguistic historiography the place it deserves in Spanish universities and research centers.
The meeting concluded with a plenary lecture by Alfonso Zamorano Aguilar, current president of the society (University of Córdoba), entitled "Linguistic Theory and Extralinguistic Ideology in Treatises Written by Women in Spain and Latin America During the 19th and Early 20th Centuries."
The fact that this anniversary was celebrated at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the Rey Juan Carlos University reaffirms the commitment of the area's teachers to research and, especially, to the SEHL; since there are many links that unite the Area of General Linguistics with this society: as an example, Mr. Miguel Ángel Esparza, Dean of the FAH, was president of the SEHL and worked to ensure that the Bulletin of the Spanish Society of Linguistic Historiography was a recognized publication in the academic world.
