Contemporary art has undergone a major transformation in recent decades thanks to the incorporation of new technologies. Digitization and advanced tools have allowed artists to explore unprecedented forms of expression and create interactive and generative works that challenge traditional formats. In this context, the 1st International CoMDiF Congress It focuses on the role of these new media within the various artistic and digital practices of current creation.
The congress was structured into three thematic blocks: “Computational Creativity”, “Counterculture and New Trends” y “Sound and Visual Experimentation”and a total meeting of 13 national presentations y 7 internationals (on delay). It also featured the participation of guest experts such as Jaime Munarriz Ortiz, Full Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid; Isidro López AparicioProfessor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada; and Pedro Ordóñez Eslava, Full Professor at the Faculty of Musicology of the University of Granada.
Furthermore, the papers presented will be published in a minute book, co-published by Jose Antonio Vertedor Romero y Andrea de la Rubia Gómez-MoránThis book will be available in Open access through the institutional repository Burj-Digital and in the Open Academy Publishing House of the URJC.
Research team and project resources
The congress was organized by the CUVPAC research group of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities-URJC and had the support of a prominent International Scientific Committee, composed of Dr. Thomas Asmuth, professor in the Department of Art and Design at the University of West Florida (United States); the Dr. Joanna ZylinskaProfessor of Philosophy of Media and Critical Digital Practice at King's College London (United Kingdom); and the Dr. Lidia Radi, professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literature at the University of Richmond (United States).
The organizing committee also received the collaboration of professors from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the URJC: Juan Gallego Garrido (Painting Area), Miguel Ángel Rego (Sculpture Area) and Mónica Garrié-Faget Guevara (Coordinator of the Drawing Area). Doctoral students also participated. María del Valle Garrido López, Ane Etxeberria Sartal y Darío Gil Cabanas, as well as the Fine Arts student and member of the Mapatxe Association, Jimena García Caballero.
