For another year, several professors from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities have participated as curators of the exhibition "Strokes 8", which opens its doors to inclusive art at the Arturo Soria Shopping Center, exhibiting the works of users of the Centers for People with Intellectual Disability of the Madrid Social Care Agency (AMAS) of the Community of Madrid.

This eighth edition of "Strokes 8" shows a selection of works, paintings and ceramics that cover a great diversity of themes: landscapes, representations of the environment, portraits, interpretations of works of art, abstract pieces, works inspired by images from the media. or invented characters and scenes, among others, that respond to the climate of creative freedom in which their authors carry out their work.

The spontaneity and freedom of expression of each of the works show the visitor the unique character of each artist, observing a display of free creativity where color and shapes of perfect imperfection present us with new definitions of art. Committed to this cause, Pablo Prieto, Director of the Department of Arts and Humanities of the Rey Juan Carlos University, together with Raquel Sardá Sánchez, Vice Dean of Campus, Infrastructures and Laboratories, and Ruth Remartínez, professor of the drawing area, work with great effort and involvement. to make visible, integrate and publicize the artistic expression of people with intellectual disabilities. In this way, the commitment of the Rey Juan Carlos University with this group and inclusive art is reinforced year after year.

"Strokes 8" puts before our eyes more than 100 works that speak for themselves: whispers, voices, screams and emotions captured with watercolors, markers, pastels or colored pencils, which tell stories to be heard from the silence as we look at them.

The exhibition can be visited at the Arturo Soria Plaza Shopping Center (between the ground and first floors) until March 21, 2023.
