The Faculty receives an important donation of books on languages ​​and cultures of Mexico

The copies will be used to enrich the library of the Rey Juan Carlos University on the Aranjuez Campus, which is currently in the process of expansion.

IMG 20240628 WA0048On 29 June the Faculty of Arts and Humanities received the visit of the professor of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) Ascensión Hernández Triviño, to do one donation of books to the library of the Aranjuez Campus. This donation arrives in a very opportune moment, since they will soon undertake Restructuring works in the library of the Maestro Rodrigo building (C/Infantas, 55, Aranjuez) for expand your physical space and, in parallel, their collections and thus become a URJC reference library in the Aranjuez Campus. 

Amongst the donated books found editions ex libris de Miguel Leon Portilla (historian and linguist) and of the same Professor Hernandez. To Professor Hernández It was received by the Dean of the Faculty, Mr. Miguel Ángel Esparza Torres, with whom was rreviewing some of the works he donated to the library. Among these you can promote a facsimile edition of the Mexican language art by Andrés de Olmos (1547) or  Art of the Mexican and Spanish language by Alonso de Molina (first published in 1571), just like him Major confessional in Mexican and Spanish language (1565) from the same author. These books have a priceless value y, Now, they are part of the library's bibliographic collection of the Aranjuez Campus.

In addition to being a professor at UNAM, Ascensión Hernández Triviño is member of the Mexican Academy of Language since 2007 y founder of the Mexican Society of Linguistic Historiography. Su research runs through the mesoamerican philology y focuses on the Nahuatl languageas well as in the life and works of Bernardino de Sahagún.
