On May 6th, the Professor Ana Esther Santamaría (Art History area), recently appointed coordinator of the new Degree in Art History and Cultural HeritageWas interviewed on Onda Aranjuez to talk about this Title, That begin to to be taught in the Aranjuez campus from next 2025-2026 academic year.

The new Degree in Art History and Cultural Heritage it is the first one designed entirely by the Faculty, and stands out for its character Governance Model. Integrates a solid Development en History of art with a specific orientation towards the management y preservation of the cultural heritage, and incorporates related subjects with  art history, aesthetics, history, digital humanities, non-Western art, visual studies e cultural industries.

One of the strong points of this new academic offer is its direct link with the environment. The choice of Aranjuez campus, declared city UNESCO World Heritage, allows students to live the experience of learn art history and heritage in a place of exceptional historical and artistic value, integrating the territorio , the active part of training. It is also an important complement to provide identity to the municipality as university "city".

Professor Santamaría also highlighted that this degree has been designed to respond to the challenges of the present and the future in the cultural field, paying attention to issues such as use of digital tools in the research y dissemination of art. That is, the competencies adapt to the new circumstances or demands of the labor market, so it is a single degree in the public universities of the Region of Madrid.

Since it was officially approved, teachers and students have assumed a active role in the diffusion of the new degree, participating in pre-university orientation activities en different secondary schools in the Community of Madrid or AULA Fair. "It is a project in which a lot of care has been put," said Professor Santamaría during her speech, stressing that the Title seeks to form professionals with critical and creative capacity, prepared to work in contexts such as museums, files, exhibition curatorship, cultural management, research o patrimonial mediation.
