"GIVE A PAW" CHARITY EVENT

 Lend a hand

 

This Thursday, October 16th, from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m., the second edition of the charity event "Lend a Paw" will take place at the Old Barracks in Pavía (Aranjuez), benefiting animal protection organizations.

Admission is free, and there will be cats, activities, a charity market, and plenty of URJC merch!

Bring your donation (food, blankets, sand, or cans) and you'll automatically be entered into the drawing for a bag of university merchandise.

All proceeds will go entirely to the animal protection associations present.

IV GEOGRAPHY OLYMPICS JUNIOR (REGIONAL PHASE). AIMED AT EDUCATIONAL CENTERS AND TEACHERS OF THE SUBJECT OF GEOGRAPHY (3rd COMPULSORY SECONDARY EDUCATION)

One more year, the College of Geographers calls for the IV Junior Geography Olympiad of Spain, to be developed in two phases, local and state, the latter being held between May 19 and 22, 2025, in online mode.

For this reason, from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), the University of Alcalá (UAH), the Carlos III University (UC3), the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC) and Geographers of Madrid (Delegation of the College of Geographers of Madrid), we invite you to participate in the II Junior Geography Olympiad of Madrid.

Participation is open to individuals, with a maximum of five students from any public, state-subsidized, or private school in Madrid in their third year of compulsory secondary education (ESO). The top three finishers will receive gifts worth the equivalent of €5, €3, and €250, respectively.

The local phase will take place on Friday April 4th 2025, electronically, between 12:30 and 14:30, in accordance with the instructions set out in the Organizational Bases.

For the purposes of the merits of participating teachers, the Madrid Junior Geography Olympiad is considered by the Ministry of Education as a "Special Dedication Activity" in accordance with the Resolution of the General Directorate of Bilingualism and Quality of Education, which publishes the special dedication activities regulated in Decree 2024/2025 and Order 120/2017 for the 2453/2018 academic year. This entails, among other advantages, the recognition of 1 credit for those teachers who participate in the Olympiad and, on the day of the event, complete the supporting document for their attendance with their Center code and signature requested by the Community of Madrid for this purpose.

The College of Geographers of Madrid, in collaboration with public universities in Madrid, is organizing the XVI Geography Olympiad of Madrid (regional phase), within the framework of the XVI Geography Olympiad of Spain (state phase) that will be held, this year as a novelty, in virtual format, on Monday 5 May 2025.

As in the previous call, the regional phase The event will be held in person at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). The test and the rest of the scheduled activities will take place on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 9.00:14.00 a.m. to 28040:XNUMX p.m., at the Faculty of Geography and History of the UCM, Building B, Calle del Prof. Aranguren, s/n, Moncloa-Aravaca, XNUMX, Madrid.

Participation is individual, with a maximum of 4 students from any public, subsidized or private school in Madrid who are taking the Geography subject in 2nd year of Baccalaureate (2024/2025 academic year). As in previous years, the top three classified will receive a cash prize of €300, €200 and €100, respectively.

IMPORTANT: participating students must provide a personal email address for the development of the test. Addresses linked to educational centers are not valid due to technical problems reported in previous editions. The deadline for registration will be Monday, March 10, 2025.

For the purposes of merits for participating teachers, in the 2024/2025 academic year, the Madrid Geography Olympiad is recognized as an "Activity of special dedication". This means, among other advantages, the recognition of 1 credit for those teachers who participate in the Olympiad and on the day of the event complete the document justifying their attendance with the code of their Center and signature requested for this purpose by the Community of Madrid.

"CIRCULAR ECONOMY FOR SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT" COMPETITION FOR URJC STUDENTS 

 

Object: work on circular economy. It is aimed at students who develop their Thesis, Final Master's Project, Final Degree Project, external internships, Service-Learning projects o any other job related to the topic of the chair.
