This award, now a benchmark in the national tourism sector, recognizes professionals who, through their effort, leadership, and commitment, make a decisive contribution to innovation, competitiveness, and the development of one of the strategic sectors of the Spanish economy. In this context, the recognition of Cristina Figueroa Domecq and Pilar Talón Ballestero, both professors at Rey Juan Carlos University, highlights their solid academic careers and their contributions to knowledge in key areas of tourism.
Cristina Figueroa Domecq, Professor at URJC, She has a distinguished international research career, leading and participating in projects funded by the European Commission, the ERC, and the Global Challenges Research Fund, among others. She has published in leading journals in the field of tourism and sustainability and holds a PhD in Economics.
Pilar Talón Ballestero, A tenured professor at URJC, she specializes in revenue management, big data and hotel management, with a distinguished research career and strong ties to the tourism industry. She is the founder and director, for the past 18 years, of the Master's in Revenue Management, Business Development and Big Data, and has been recognized for her influence, innovation and commitment to sustainability in the sector.
