The event brings together students, faculty, institutional representatives and collaborating entities to recognize the effort and academic excellence of the participants, as well as the work of the educational centers and teachers involved in the competition.
During the ceremony, the top 15 students and their teachers received their awards, along with various specific recognitions granted by sponsors and collaborating institutions. It was also announced that the 15 highest-ranking students will represent the Community of Madrid in the final phase of the Spanish Economics Olympiad, which will be held at the King Juan Carlos University, Aranjuez campus, from June 17 to 19.
El winning team of this edition was the Retamar School, formed by Álvaro Alcolea Oñoro, Guzmán De Zulueta Miranda, Eduardo Deniz Zuloaga, José María Pérez del Valle and Jaime Vara Caruncho, under the coordination of Professor Alberto Barrera Rodríguez.
In the decisive phase of the event, the order of the top three finishers of the XVII Madrid Economics Olympiad: located on third place remained Jaime Bueno Rodrigo, from the San Juan Bautista Secondary Education Institute, along with his teacher Juan Jover Rojo; in second position David González Susmozas, from the IES Arquitecto Pedro Gumiel, accompanied by his teacher María Eugenia García Ceacero; and the first place was to César Olmos Benítez, from the Blas de Otero Secondary Education Institute, along with his teacher Hubert Vicente Pérez Íñiguez.
The event concluded with the closing remarks of decano from the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the URJC, Miguel Cuerdo MirWhere He emphasized the importance of initiatives like the Economics Olympiad in connecting the university with pre-university talent and highlighting the value of economic education from the earliest academic stages. His remarks were particularly noteworthy, acknowledging the efforts of students and professors, and calling for continued promotion of academic excellence and collaboration between schools and the university.
