The students Sebastián Escobar de Valdenebro from the IES José García Nieto and Eduardo Ampudia Usero from the Salesianos Atocha School obtained 2nd and 5th place respectively in the XV Spanish Economics Olympiad, held from June 19 to 21 at the University of La Rioja. In addition, these 2 students will be part of the team that will represent Spain at the International Economics Olympiad 2024 (China).
Representing the Faculty of CC. of Economy and Business, Dean Miguel Cuervo Mir attended to support this competition and accompany all student participants from the Madrid delegation. The deans of the economics and business faculties of the universities of Madrid also attended.
This national final phase of the Olympiad brought together 132 2nd year Baccalaureate students from all over Spain, who passed local tests at 45 universities in the different autonomous communities. This year, the University of La Rioja hosted the final phase, in which 115 accompanying professors also participated, including high school teachers and representatives of dean teams from the faculties of Economics and Business. Representing the 2nd year Baccalaureate teaching centers of the Community of Madrid, the 15 winning students of the final phase of the Madrid Economics Olympiad, which was held at the Faculty of CC, participated. of Economy and Business of the URJC.
This academic and educational event, organized in collaboration with the Spanish Olympic Economics Association, has as its main objective to stimulate the study of Economics and Business Economics among young people, rewarding effort and academic excellence. In addition, it acts as a meeting point between universities, secondary education centers, high school economics teachers and students interested in economics.
The Spanish Economics Olympiad, by bringing together a large number of participants and professionals from the educational field, consolidates itself as the scientific Olympiad in Spain with the largest presence of participants, reaffirming its importance as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and the promotion of education economic among young people.
