Student Miguel Franco Pérez, double graduate in Economy and International Relations awarded by the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC), has received recognition from College of Economists of Madrid (CEMAD) with the award for the best Final Degree Project in its VII edition of the Awards for the Best Final Degree Projects.
The work carried out by Miguel Franco, which is titled "Economic aspects to stop business depopulation in rural areas", has been directed by URJC Marketing Professor Alicia Blanco González. The student carried out a study on business creation in rural and sparsely populated areas of Spain, confirming the “need for local approaches in the face of the diversity of territorial circumstances.” Likewise, he highlights the existence of an "entrepreneurship out of necessity" in rural areas whereby families with limited resources and economic capabilities turn to entrepreneurship as a form of subsistence or as a means to obtain a minimum vital income.
Miguel Franco Pérez, from Ourense, has already obtained an honors degree in his faculty and this work was also awarded at the Congress of the European Academy of Business Economics (AEDEM) held in June in Toledo,
On the part of the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the URJC, the dean Miguel Cuerdo, the vice dean of students Isabel Rodríguez and the professor Luis Tomás Díez de Castro, accompanied Miguel Franco at the awards ceremony.
