On September 25, the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC) celebrated its traditional Faculty Day. The event brought together students, teachers and personalities from the economic and business fields, as well as prominent academic authorities from the university itself. Among the attendees were Mr. Gregorio Izquierdo Llanes, Director of Economics of the CEOE; Ms. Amelia Perez Zabaleta, Dean of the College of Economists of Madrid; Ester García García, Director General of the College of Economists; Ms. Angel Ramos Sanchez, President of the Vicálvaro District Council; and Oscar Romera Jimenez, General Coordinator of Economy, Trade and Consumption of the Madrid City Council.
The event was also attended by important authorities from the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC) and the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences, including Ms. María Enciso Alonso-Muñumer, Dean of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences; Ms. Piedad Tolmos Rodríguez-Piñero, Director of the Department of Financial Economics and Accounting; Mr. Ignacio Mauleón Torres, Former Dean of the FCEE and Emeritus Professor of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis; Ms. Alicia Blanco González, Director of the Department of Business Economics; Ms. Susana García Moreno, Director of the Department of Business Economics (ADO), Applied Economics II and Fundamentals of Economic Analysis; Ms. Pilar Abad Romero, Director of the International Doctoral School; Ms. María Luisa Humanes Humanes, Vice-Rector for International Relations; Fernando García Muiña, Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation and Transfer; and Dionisio de Haro Romero, Vice-Rector for Continuing Education at the URJC.
The ceremony was presided over by the former governor of the Bank of Spain, Pablo Hernandez de Kos, who was awarded the prize for Outstanding Economist of the Year 2024During his speech, Hernández de Cos reflected on current economic challenges and stressed the importance of academic institutions in training future business leaders.
In addition, the Faculty recognized the effort, work and achievements of its university community by awarding Awards in various categories:
- Outstanding Economist of the Year Award: Mr. Pablo Hernandez de Kos, Former Governor of the Bank of Spain.

- Auxiliary Staff Award: David Jimenez Albuquerque.
- Best File Award: Mr. Víctor Horacio Ortega Romero (9,31), Double Degree in Business Administration and Management and Law, Vicálvaro Campus.
- Best Final Degree Project Award: Mr. Marcos Otero Yuste, Double Degree in Advertising and Public Relations and Business Administration, Fuenlabrada Campus.

Directed by Jessica Paule-Vianez. - Alumni of the Year Award: Mr. Eduardo Soriano Izquierdo, Chief Economic and Commercial Advisor of Spain in Egypt, ICEX.
- Recognition of the Extraordinary Doctoral Awards: Ms. Ester Munoz Cespedes, Mrs. Maria Garcia de Blanes Sebastian and Mrs. Sara Alonso Munoz.
- Award for the Best University Outreach Work: Mario Balsera Rodriguez, student of the Double Degree in Economics and Law at URJC.
- Teaching Innovation Award: Lydia Murillo, Thais Gonzalez, Cristina Perez and Juan Jose Najera.
