Last Thursday, May 22nd, the awards ceremony for the Madrid regional phase of the Economics Olympiad took place in the Auditorium of the Complutense University of Madrid. The regional phase of the Spanish Economics Olympiad is jointly organized by the five public universities of Madrid: Rey Juan Carlos University, Autonomous University of Madrid, Complutense University of Madrid, University of Alcalá, and Carlos III University of Madrid. The awards ceremony was attended by Dean Miguel Cuerdo Mir and Vice Dean of Students and University Outreach Isabel Rodríguez Iglesias, representing the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the URJC.
The Economics Olympiad is an academic competition for high school students that aims to foster interest in economics, reward academic excellence, and strengthen ties between secondary education and the university. Participants test their economic knowledge. The students awarded in this regional phase will represent the Community of Madrid in the national phase, which will be held next June at the University of Alicante. The top 50 students from all the autonomous communities will compete in this phase. The five highest-ranking students in the national round will be part of the team that will represent Spain in the international phase of the Economics Olympiad.
