Professor Vicente Garrido Rebolledo presents his new book on the nuclear non-proliferation regime in Vienna

Professor Vicente Garrido Rebolledo, Vice Dean of Research and International Relations at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University, has presented his latest work at the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute in Vienna: Sisyphus' rock: past, present and future of the nuclear non-proliferation regime, written in collaboration with the diplomat and doctor from the FCJP, Ignacio Cartagena Núñez.

Professor Vicente Garrido Rebolledo, Vice Dean of Research and International Relations at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University, has presented his latest work at the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute in Vienna: Sisyphus' rock: past, present and future of the nuclear non-proliferation regime, written in collaboration with the diplomat and doctor from the FCJP, Ignacio Cartagena Núñez.

The event, held on the feast day of Saint Thomas Aquinas, was chaired by Ambassador Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and by the Spanish Ambassador to the United Nations International Organizations in Vienna, María Sebastián de Erice. The director of the Cervantes Institute in Vienna, Milagros Crespo, acted as master of ceremonies.

More than 90 attendees, including representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Vienna, academics, journalists and experts in international security, attended the event. Among those present was the Spanish Ambassador to Austria, Aurora Mejía Errasquín, along with IAEA officials and specialists in the field.

An innovative and necessary approach

During the presentation, the importance of a work of this nature being written in Spanish was highlighted, thus contributing to the dissemination in this language of a topic of growing relevance on the international agenda. The publication offers a comprehensive approach to the challenges, advances and perspectives of the nuclear non-proliferation regime, providing fundamental keys to understanding a critical issue in global security.

Professor Garrido Rebolledo, a renowned expert in international law and global security, has distinguished himself for his academic and research work on disarmament and non-proliferation issues. His contribution as a member of the Advisory Board on Education and Outreach of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and his role as Director of the “Francisco Villamartín” Chair of Security and Defense consolidate him as a reference in the field.

A commitment to dissemination and academic debate

The presentation of The rock of Sisyphus in Vienna reinforces Professor Garrido Rebolledo's commitment to the dissemination of knowledge in the field of international law and global security. His participation in international forums, together with his research and teaching work, positions him as a key figure in the study and analysis of the challenges facing the nuclear non-proliferation regime.

With this work, Vicente Garrido Rebolledo and his co-author Ignacio Cartagena Núñez open a space for fundamental reflection on the evolution of this regime and its impact on international stability.
