Madrid, March 7, 2025 – The Rey Juan Carlos University has successfully hosted the XNUMXnd International Congress on Industrial Property and Advertising in the Fashion and Cosmetics Sector, consolidating its position as a benchmark at the intersection of law and industry. The inauguration was attended by prominent figures such as Ms. María Teresa Enciso Alonso-Muñumer, Dean of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of the URJC; Ms. Marta Nieto Novo, General Director of Commerce, Consumption and Services; and Mr. Salvador González Martín, President of the General Council of the Spanish Bar Association, who highlighted the relevance of this forum for the evolution and regulation of the sector.
Throughout the days, the Congress brought together top-level experts, including designer Modesto Lomba, president of the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain (ACME), and professors Carlos Lema Devesa (UCM) and Fernando Carbajo Cascón (University of Salamanca), Marta García Mandalóniz (Universidad Carlos III) and Esther González-Hernández (URJC) who contributed their vision on the protection of industrial property in fashion and cosmetics. In addition, prominent representatives of international firms, law firms and entities in the sector analyzed current and future challenges, addressing key issues such as sustainability, artificial intelligence and the expansion of brands in the global market.
The event, organised by Mr. Enrique Ortega Burgos, President of AEDM, and Ms. María Rosa Tapia Sánchez, Director of the Private Law Department of the URJC, was attended by renowned academics, specialist lawyers and representatives of major companies in the sector. During the closing ceremony, both organisers highlighted the importance of collaboration between the academic world and industry to address the new legal and business challenges in fashion and cosmetics, highlighting the high level of the presentations and the interest aroused in the professional and university community.
The Congress also included a session of scientific communications in which national and international researchers presented their latest studies on intellectual property, marketing strategies and advertising regulation in these sectors. With this second edition, the event has consolidated itself as an essential forum for the analysis and debate of the legal and commercial aspects that impact two of the most dynamic and creative industries globally.
