Luis María Cazorla Prieto, new president of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain

Luis María Cazorla Prieto has been unanimously elected president of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain, replacing Manuel Pizarro, who recently submitted his voluntary resignation from the position.

Cazorla, who until now served as vice president of the Academy, will also preside over the Institute of Spain, an entity that brings together the ten main national royal academies. His official inauguration will take place at a ceremony scheduled for May 27.

During his address to the Plenary following his election, the new president reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the institution's authoritative and impartial voice in major legal debates, both nationally and internationally, as well as in Latin America.

Luis María Cazorla has been a full member of the board since 2010. He holds a degree and PhD in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, is a State Attorney, a lawyer in the Cortes Generales, and a service inspector for the Ministry of Finance. He has also held a professorship in Financial and Tax Law at the Rey Juan Carlos University, among other notable academic and professional responsibilities.

With this election, the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation reaffirms its commitment to academic and legal excellence, as well as its active participation in legal matters of major national and international significance.
