Presentation

In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has established itself as a decisive technology in the transformation of the global scientific landscape, for example, through the use of machine learning algorithms that have revolutionized areas such as biomedicine, accelerating the discovery of new medical treatments and facilitating more accurate diagnoses. Educational institutions, particularly universities, as well as scientific research centers, play a central role in preparing professionals capable of using these advanced tools to enhance research and its dissemination, generate innovative knowledge, and effectively respond to complex challenges facing our society.

Objectives

The training objectives of this block are designed to equip participating students with advanced skills in the practical application of artificial intelligence in scientific research. Specifically, the objectives are:

  • Understand the conceptual and methodological foundations of artificial intelligence and its specific impact on scientific research.
  • Develop advanced skills in intelligent and systematic search of scientific literature using artificial intelligence-based tools.
  • Master the ethical and effective use of generative artificial intelligence tools to facilitate and improve the quality of scientific writing.
  • Acquire practical skills in advanced scientific data analysis using artificial intelligence technologies, including AutoML techniques and interactive results visualization.
  • To empower students to design and create personalized, artificial intelligence-based assistants specifically geared toward improving scientific writing.

Programme

Block I. Legality and ethics of artificial intelligence in research (20 hours)

  • History and evolution of AI.
  • AI Basics.
  • Impact of AI on research.
  • Legality and ethics of AI in research.

Block II. Research enhanced by artificial intelligence (70 hours)

  • Introduction to AI in scientific research.
  • Intelligent literature search and systematic reviews with AI.
  • Academic writing: Generative text AIs as assistants.
  • Advanced scientific data analysis and visualization with AI.
  • Creating AI assistants for scientific writing.

Block III. Online practical workshops (10 hours).

Recipients

Admission requirements: This microcredential is open to predoctoral researchers, tenured researchers, and university teaching and research staff, whether or not currently active, who wish to incorporate generative artificial intelligence technologies into their scientific practice. Microcredentials, intended for students with or without a previous official university degree.

The documentation that you will have to submit is the following:

Students with a degree obtained from a Spanish university or a Higher Education Institution belonging to another Member State of the European Higher Education Area that provides access to continuing education courses must submit the following documentation:

Students with foreign qualifications must submit the following documentation:

These courses allow for the certification of learning results linked to short-term training activities. Their duration must, in any case, be less than 15 ECTS credits. Successful completion of these courses through the corresponding assessment tests will entitle the student, where appropriate, to obtain a Certificate with the name of the respective course and will be included in the centralised Register of this type of qualification. In the event that they do not include assessment tests, a certificate of attendance will be obtained.
