Typology of teachings

MASTER

The Master's studies will be the highest level postgraduate teachings within the offer of this type of teaching. Its objective will be for the student to acquire advanced training of a specialized or multidisciplinary nature and, where appropriate, professional.

In no case will they give access to official doctoral studies.

  • They will have a minimum duration of 60 ECTS credits and maximum of 120 ECTS creditsand must be completed for at least one academic year.
  • All Own Master's degrees will include a mandatory Final Master's Project (TFM) in their study plan and of at least 6 ECTS credits.
  • Passing the Master's studies through the corresponding evaluation tests will give the right, where appropriate, to obtain the Own Master's Degree in "...." by the URJC.

SPECIALIST

The teachings leading to the Diploma of Specialization will have a duration between 30 and 59 ECTS credits. To obtain the title it will not be necessary to carry out and defend a final project. Passing these studies through the corresponding evaluation tests will give the right, where appropriate, to obtain the Specialization Diploma in “…” by the URJC and will be included in the centralized Registry of this type of degree.

EXPERT

The teachings leading to the title of University Expert will have a duration between 15 and 29 ECTS credits. To obtain the title it will not be necessary to carry out and defend a final project. Passing these studies through the corresponding evaluation tests will give the right, where appropriate, to obtain the corresponding Title of University Expert in "...." by the URJC.

COURSES

Higher University Course

The teachings leading to the title of Higher University Course will have a duration of less than 15 ECTS credits. Successful completion of these studies will give the right, where appropriate, to obtaining the corresponding Higher University Course Degree in "..." by the URJC, provided that the course includes evaluable tests and will be included in the centralized Registry of this type of degree. If it does not include evaluable tests, a Certificate of Attendance will be issued. If the course does not include evaluable tests, in no case can it be used in the modular structure programs. 

University Extension Courses

The objective of the university extension courses will be for the students who take them to expand, perfect and update their knowledge, with the ultimate goal of being able to respond in an agile way to the demands of society in general, and to the professional development of people. that demand these courses in particular. Access to these studies does not require possession of a previous university degree. Depending on their course load, two types of university extension courses will be distinguished:

  • University Extension Diploma in “...” by the URJC: Courses with a course load equal to or greater than 30 ECTS credits. To obtain the degree, it is necessary to pass the corresponding evaluation tests.
  • Certificate of University Extension in "..." by the URJC: Courses with course load of less than 30 ECTS credits. To obtain the degree, it is necessary to pass the corresponding evaluation tests. In the case of not contemplating evaluable subjects/modules, an attendance certificate will be obtained and they cannot be part of programs with a modular structure.

What are the Proper Teachings?

These are studies that are offered and that have been organized by the Rey Juan Carlos University, whose main objective is to provide the student with specialized training, both from an academic and professional point of view, including studies of scientific, technological, cultural, artistic interest. , economic or social. These teachings must seek a way of transferring knowledge from the University to society that is complementary to that of official degrees, while guaranteeing that all people can continue training throughout life.

These degrees can be developed in collaboration with companies and institutions of different kinds, facilitating the incorporation of the student into the world of work.

There are different types of Own Teaching, according to the training that is given and the access requirements established in the Regulation of Own Teaching:

  • Own Master
  • University Specialist
  • University Expert
  • Higher University Course
  • University Extension Courses

Are the Own Teachings official studies?

No, they are Own Teachings offered by the Rey Juan Carlos University as a complement to the official degrees and that offer a specialization in different areas of knowledge.

Is it necessary to have a university degree to access the Own Teachings?

A university degree (bachelor's or bachelor's degree) is necessary to access Master's degrees as well as Experts, Specialists and Higher University Courses. However, on some occasions the possibility is contemplated that people without a previous university degree but who can demonstrate professional experience related to the subject of the course, access it. This possibility must be contemplated in the corresponding academic report and will be subject in any case to the decision of the Course Director. People who access this way will only receive a Diploma or a Certificate of University Extension depending on the case.

To access the University Extension Courses, no previous university degree is required.

Can I access a Self-Education course if I haven't finished a degree yet?

Yes, as long as you have a maximum of 30 credits left to take from the same official university degree in Spain, and this is contemplated in the academic report for the course.

Do the Own Masters give access to the Doctorate programs?

No, you can only access the Doctorate programs after completing and passing an official Master's degree.

Are the professors of the Own Teachings professors of the URJC?

Yes, the Own Teaching classes will be taught by the same teachers who teach the official teaching. In the event that the course is taught in collaboration with other universities, companies or entities, teaching will be shared, but the URJC faculty will teach a minimum of 30% of the course credits (excluding final degree projects and external internships). ).

Are Own Teachings On-line offered?

Yes, the URJC's own teachings may be face-to-face, semi-face-to-face and/or remote.

How is the pre-registration request made?

It is done from the University website www.urjc.es. The student will have to detail their personal data, attach the required documentation and select the course they wish to take.

Once the pre-registration period has ended, the Department of Own Education will carry out a selection process.

What does the selection test consist of?

It will be the Academic Direction of each Own Education that determines the selection criteria. These criteria are defined in the academic report of each teaching, which must have been previously approved as established in the Regulation of Own Teaching.

When is the pre-registration request made?

Each Enseñanza Propia has specific pre-registration application deadlines.

Does pre-registration have any cost?

Yes. The Masters have a pre-registration cost of €500, the Specialists and Experts €250.

The University Extension Courses and Higher University Courses have no pre-registration cost.

Once students have made the pre-registration request, they must print the corresponding payment letter by accessing the University Services Portal with their username and password. With it you will have to go to any Bankia or Banco de Santander branch to make the deposit.

For the pre-registration to be effective, the student will have to attach a copy of the payment letter stamped by the bank together with the documentation required in each case.

What documentation must be presented?

The documentation that you will have to submit is the following:

Students with a degree obtained from a Spanish university, or from a Higher Education Institution belonging to another Member State of the European Higher Education Area that empowers them to access their own postgraduate studies, must present the following documentation:

  • National Identity Document or equivalent
  • University degree of the studies that give access to the requested postgraduate degree.
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Responsible declaration of veracity of the data provided in digital format
  • Any other document that may be required by the Academic Department of Own Teaching for its acceptance

Students with a foreign degree must present the following documentation:

  • Passport or Residence Card
  • Foreign Higher Education Degree (Graduate, Graduate, Architect, Engineer Doctor...) that give access to own postgraduate degree studies.
  • Certificate certifying that the studies carried out give access to an Official Postgraduate Degree in your country of origin, issued by the University of origin
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Declaration of the person responsible for the veracity of the data provided in digital format
  • Any other document that the Direction of Own Education specifically requires for its acceptance

Applicants with studies completed in foreign University Centers may request, at any time, a verification certificate of these studies and centers, issued by an authorized Institution.

All documentation provided must be legalized in accordance with Spanish law and translated by an official translator.

Where do I have to present the documentation?

The applicants will present all the scanned documentation, in the formats allowed through the telematic self-pre-registration application when applying for admission to their own degrees. They must compulsorily attach to their request the declaration of the person responsible for the veracity of the data provided in digital format.

  • At any time, both the Program Management and the Own Teaching Service may request the applicants to submit said certified/collated documentation through the General Registry, located on the Móstoles Campus, or in any of the registries auxiliary offices located in the different campuses of the Rey Juan Carlos University.   • The student is responsible for the veracity and correctness of the data provided, and guarantees and is responsible for its accuracy, validity and authenticity. How is the registration done?

Only if the application for pre-registration has been ACCEPTED by the Directorate of Own Education can the self-registration be carried out.

The self-registration will be done from the University website www.urjc.es.

To formalize the enrollment, you will have to print the corresponding enrollment payment letter and pay it at any Bankia or Banco de Santander branch.

Can the payment be split?

Yes, you can select single payment or installment payment.

The installment payment for the Masters consists of the payment of 30% at the time of formalization of the registration by means of a payment letter and the rest of the amount in seven installments by means of direct debit payments.

The installment payment for the Experts and Specialists consists of the payment of 40% at the time of formalization of the registration by means of a payment letter and the rest of the amount in two installments by direct debit of the payments.

For University Extension Courses and Higher University Courses, payment can be divided into two installments when the amount is equal to or greater than €500.

In Own Teachings whose duration is less than eight months, the division will be adapted to the duration of the course, not including the months of internships.

Bills will be collected on the 5th of each month.

What is the minimum number of students for an Own Teaching to start?

In order for an Own Teaching to start, it must have the minimum number of students enrolled that has been established and approved in its academic report, according to the procedure established by the URJC.

Can you cancel registration?

The student will have to justify the cause or causes that would justify the cancellation request so that it can be studied. The amount paid by the student will not be refunded once the course has started.

Where is the payment made?

Students must pay their payments before the due date on the payment letter. By any of the following means:

2. In CaixaBank: through Electronic Banking and ATMs. Cash pickup is not accepted

It cannot be paid by bank transfer, except in the cases of foreign students who have to carry out said procedure internationally. To do this, they must consult on how to do it by accessing the URJC Mailbox

What is the Mandate?

Students who have split the payment and therefore have paid their bills by direct debit must take into account that according to the new SEPA regulations (Single Euro Payment Area) the direct debit order, also called a mandate, constitutes the authorization and expression of consent provided by the debtor (the student) to the creditor (the University) in order to allow the latter to initiate collections by debiting the debtor's account, and the debtor's entity to comply with the creditor's instructions for payment.

In order to be able to domicile the registration payment, the student must send the University the mandate that is generated when validating their registration. The mandate must be signed by the Account Holder.

The mandate may be delivered to the General Registry of the University located on the Móstoles Campus or to any of the Auxiliary Registry of the University located on the Alcorcón, Fuenlabrada and Vicálvaro Campuses.
