Basic Information

Presentation

The Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC), in collaboration with the Quirónsalud Proton Therapy Center (CPTQS), presents the Physics, Technology, and Oncology in Proton Therapy course. This course focuses on describing the fundamentals and considerations of proton beam treatment from physical, technical, and oncological perspectives. It provides the necessary interdisciplinary training for specialists who wish to learn about proton therapy. Please note that some lessons may be taught in English.

Objectives

The main objective of the course is to train personnel capable of planning and applying proton therapy, both in basic knowledge and in the latest trends in technologies and clinical applications.

Recipients

  This training is aimed at students with one of these profiles:

  • Degree or bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences, with specialization in medical physics
  • Degree or bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery
  • Senior Technician in Radiotherapy and Dosimetry

If there are spaces left, students with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and experience in the sector will be able to access it.

Selection criteria

In the event that the number of applications exceeds the number of places offered, a selection will be made based on the following objectively weighted criteria as stated:

1. Previous experience in the sector – 30%

2. Motivation and possibility of professionally applying the acquired knowledge – 70%

Microcredentials, intended for students with or without a previous official university degree.

These courses allow for the certification of learning results linked to short-term training activities. Their duration must, in any case, be less than 15 ECTS credits. Successful completion of these courses through the corresponding assessment tests will entitle the student, where appropriate, to obtain a Certificate with the name of the respective course and will be included in the centralised Register of this type of qualification. In the event that they do not include assessment tests, a certificate of attendance will be obtained.
