Basic Information

Presentation

The ongoing social demand for the second-cycle courses (fourth and fifth years) at the URJC's University for Seniors justifies the need for a course of this nature. The extension course expands the educational experience of our seniors at the URJC, providing subjects with a high level of acceptance and interest for University for Seniors students who have completed their basic education.

Objectives

The objective of the course "Myths of History, the Power of Genetics, and Social Change" is to address specific areas of knowledge and subjects not included in the basic training programs at the University for Seniors, providing a broader academic offering. The course covers four subjects that, in a cross-disciplinary manner and taught by specialists in their areas of expertise, promote learning and understanding from a historical perspective of various topics not typically included in general education programs. Therefore, the main objectives are:

  1. Develop topics that are rarely covered in general programs.
  2. Relationship between transversal aspects in History and their projection in the present.
  3. Respond to the demands of the University for Seniors students on these specific topics.
