La Fair Madrid is Science It will be held between March 23 and 25 in Hall 5 of the IFEMA Madrid fairgrounds, within the framework of Education Week. This scientific dissemination event is completely free and is aimed at the entire educational community and the general public. Its main objectives are, as pointed out by the coordination of the fair: "promote scientific vocations by eliminating gender barriers, communicate science and innovation that is carried out in the Community of Madrid, stimulate the interest and curiosity of young people for science and show how research influences the economic development and well-being of society”.

The Rey Juan Carlos University participates for another year in this meeting space between the scientific community and citizens with the purpose of sharing knowledge and scientific and technological advances. He stand of the URJC will be open to the public on March 23 from 10:00 to 20:00 and will have activities of varied themes, under the motto 'Come to URJCiencia'. “The involvement, for yet another year, in the Madrid Science Fair of the URJC scientific community is outstanding and worth mentioning. We bring new activities so that the general public can participate in them and learn about the work of our researchers. It is about science reaching everyone in a simple and attractive way at the same time”, points out Carmen García Galera, academic director of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I).

Among the activities, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the world of virtual reality from different scientific perspectives, delve into the secrets of human anatomy or learn about different applications of 3D printers and discover the potential of this technology.

In addition, various activities will be offered to learn how to recycle correctly; know the state of our physical condition; virtually visit Real Sites; closely observe some plant species and show the risks in computer security with real cases of data theft.

The offer of activities will be completed with exhibitions on the use of photography in the scientific field, contests related to legal sciences and traditional board games such as Monopoly or Who's who, but with challenges on chemistry. Several student associations will also participate with activities on new technologies applied to horticulture or remote assistance, advances in robotics and flight simulators.

The participation of the URJC in the 'Madrid is Science' Fair is coordinated by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation and Transfer, through the UCC+I, and has the collaboration of the different schools and faculties, as well as the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT)-Ministry of Science and Innovation.

The scientific showcase of the Community of Madrid

The Madrid is Science Fair offers a sample of the Madrid Community's R&D capabilities and aims to be a space for learning and exploration of the region's scientific, technological and innovative ecosystem. In addition, this event is a meeting point between the different agents of the knowledge generation and application system (teachers, researchers and entrepreneurs) and the general public so that they can share knowledge and experiences.

“The entire talent value chain in the Community of Madrid -from educational centers to research centers and innovative companies, including Madrid's universities and institutions- will be represented at the Fair with the aim of communicating science and innovation, stimulating the interest and curiosity of young people for science and showing how research influences the economic development and well-being of society”, point out from the madri+d Knowledge Foundation.

Among the various activities that will be offered at the stand from madri+d, it will be possible to participate in a workshop on the Mediterranean diet, given by professors from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the URJC. In addition, in the Agora of the Fair, engineers from the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering will show what a CubeSat -miniature satellite- is and how these small objects have changed the way of understanding access to space and earth observation. .
