Good news for Rey Juan Carlos University's commitment to Sustainable Development. The latest edition of THE Impact ranking places the institution first in the Community of Madrid in compliance with the SDGs.
As Joaquín Rams, Vice-Rector for Research, Doctoral Studies, and Library Studies, points out, "We are, competitively speaking, at the forefront of our neighboring universities and are achieving good results in both national and global contexts."
'THE Impact' also brings good news in these chapters. Regarding global ranking, Rey Juan Carlos University has been ranked among the top 300 in the world for the first time, and in Spain, it is among the 10 best performers in meeting the SDGs.
These results, says Joaquín Rams, demonstrate "the URJC's commitment to society in a ranking that focuses primarily on the economic, social, and environmental impact of universities in achieving the SDGs."
First in Spain in SDGs 12 and 15
Rey Juan Carlos University has recorded a particularly positive result in Sustainable Development Goals 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and 15 (Life on Land and Ecosystems). Achieving these two SDGs is the focus of the URJC's two recently created institutes: the Institute for Research in Technologies for Sustainability (ITPS) and the Institute for Global Change Research (ICG).
