In the tenth edition of the festival 'Malasaña Paint', a team of students from the Rey Juan Carlos University, composed of Vanesa Rivera, María Varela, Lucas Fernández, Lydia Moreno, Rosa Araque, Julianny Graciela Mata, and Lluïsa Balle, participated in an intense live painting session alongside other university artists. The mural freshly portrays the essence of Madrid through two chulapas (one of them a drag queen), a classic greyhound, and the vibrant streets of Malasaña and Chueca, symbols of a diverse Madrid in constant dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity.
On this occasion, the proposal was promoted and curated by Professor Macarena Moreno, in collaboration with Professor Ángel Caño. Both supported the students throughout this artistic and curatorial process, facilitating their integration into a professional exhibition context. The work was created with ORIGIN acrylic paints, thanks to the sponsorship of the brand. Pebeo.
Regarding this project, Miguel S. Moñita, coordinator of the program involved, noted that "the URJC's Fine Arts degree maintains a firm commitment to artistic creation as a tool for social transformation." Likewise, "these types of initiatives allow students to connect their training with the city, its cultural spaces, and its diversity, thus reinforcing a committed vision of contemporary art," he emphasized.
The exhibition, which will remain open to the public until the first week of September, transforms the courtyard of the history Museum in a showcase of young talent and the narrative power of urban art as a memory of the present.
