Carolina Jiménez Cencerrado was one of four recipients of the latest Lili Álvarez Awards, presented by the Women's Institute. Her work, 'The Universe of Bullying with Belén Toimil,' was recognized in the category of best audiovisual journalistic work.

In the case of Belén Toimil, Carolina explains: “She is a shot putter, with a larger build than the average teenage girl, which led to bullying at school. In her sport, she felt for the first time that her body was valuable. Often, the media doesn't tell the story behind these cases. My professional career aims to create safe spaces where female athletes can talk about their sporting and personal achievements, connecting with an audience that feels identified and represented by these stories.”

Currently, Carolina works at the Oeoe Marketing agency, which is involved in the Tour Universo Mujer project, promoted by the Higher Sports Council and other public institutions. Regarding the award, the journalist says she feels “very proud and happy that this work, which my colleagues and I have been doing for eight years, is being recognized. We strive to highlight what lies behind great female athletes, not just what is seen in the media.”

Its main objective is "to give visibility to women in society through sport, not only as athletes, but also in their daily lives, addressing issues such as motherhood or raising children, challenges that all women face. Female athletes have many merits and achievements that should be recognized, but the ultimate goal is to give space to the figure of women."
