URJC students will be able to do internships at the Leganés City Council

The Leganés City Council has signed an agreement with the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC) so that its students can carry out internships at the City Hall and thus contribute to their comprehensive training, facilitate knowledge of the methodology for a better performance of their professional work, promote the development of skills and enhance their entrepreneurship and employability.

 The City Council will offer places in various degree programs to introduce students to the professional world, allowing them to develop skills and enhance their employability. This is the first agreement of its kind that the City Council has signed with a university.

According to the agreement, which will last for four years and be renewable for another four years, the City Council may offer internship positions with the frequency (which may not be less than 100 hours) or amount that it stipulates (an economic or in-kind endowment as a scholarship or study aid), and indicate the specific offer for each position, indicating the degree to which it is directed, the duration of the internship, the basic knowledge required, its start and end date and all the requirements that it establishes. 

This is the first agreement of its kind that the City Council has signed with a university.

The City Council must appoint a tutor who will be responsible for the training of each student and the assessment of their performance, providing the URJC at the end of each internship period with a report on the result and performance of the work carried out by each student. 

This report will detail the duration of the internship, the total hours, its content, the level of engagement and participation, performance, and the skills acquired. This report will be evaluated by URJC for academic purposes, in accordance with its External Internship Regulations. 

Through these types of agreements, Rey Juan Carlos University seeks to bring university education closer to the social and professional reality of its environment, by establishing relationships with other entities that allow the training process of its students to be completed with a practical application of the theoretical knowledge acquired.
