Throughout the second half of April, the Rey Juan Carlos University hosted almost fifty activities, framed within its cultural week.

In recent weeks, the URJC, with the support of the Cultural Service and the Vice-Rectorate for Social Responsibility, Culture and Sport, has once again celebrated 'Culture Week'. This year, the driving force behind the events has been the proposals of the university community itself, through a program that has addressed a wide range of topics.

In summary, Jesús María Arsuaga, Vice-Rector for Social Responsibility, Culture, and Sports, noted that “this year’s edition has been the most ambitious to date, both in terms of the number of activities and its presence on all campuses.” The Vice-Rector, who described this Week as “a demand of the university community,” also emphasized the importance of complementing students’ academic experience with a “cultural curriculum,” since “it not only stimulates their knowledge and sensitivity to the world around them, but also because the diversification of hobbies and interests makes individuals unique.”

This year, a total of forty-two activities took place. Most events were held on the various URJC campuses, although four were held outside the University. In this regard, Arsuaga noted that “Culture Week featured events of varying scope: from workshops, aimed at a necessarily small number of people, to conferences, concerts, and theatrical performances held in auditoriums for large audiences.”

A key boost for university life

In the days leading up to its celebration, the organization of this 'Culture Week' set as its objective to give university life another point of view, not so much from the academic, but from the artistic and the conventional, a purpose that, for Arsuaga, has been fulfilled "fully", since "it has been two weeks in which university life has been generated through the development and exchange of cultural experiences".

Looking ahead, “we will work to continue identifying the interests of the entire URJC community,” so that the range of activities is attractive to increasingly wider groups,” the vice-rector concluded.
