The URJC held the event on May 7, 8 and 9. Congress on Education, Innovation and TransferThis meeting addressed educational innovation from an interdisciplinary perspective. The event brought together speakers from different countries in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online sessions, and established itself as a space for exchanging experiences and best practices in diverse areas of knowledge.
This year's edition saw similar figures to last year, with nearly a thousand registered participants, representatives from 30 countries, and more than 170 institutions. "The congress featured over 500 presentations and 15 online plenary sessions focused on innovative practices at a global level, which will remain available as a repository on the congress website," says Belén Puebla, Professor of Communication at FCCOM and director of the congress.
Very practical in-person program
The in-person program included eight workshops and an opening conference, with activities designed to "step outside your comfort zone," as Puebla noted, and to promote active learning methodologies. These included activities such as using artificial intelligence and playing with Lego-like building blocks, cyanotype printing, and an escape room focused on learning the algorithm. A sign language interpretation workshop was also held, reinforcing the inclusive and multidisciplinary nature of the event.
Furthermore, the congress incorporated a social dimension with an activity in the Usera neighborhood, where an intercultural workshop was held in collaboration with the Chinese community at a senior center. Students actively participated as interns in the organization and in initiatives such as an exhibition at the Fuenlabrada campus library.
