Newsroom

Available starting this week, the URJC WhatsApp channel has been launched to keep the university community informed about the most important news, resources, and updates from the institution. This will provide students, faculty, and technical, management, and administrative and service staff with an alternative, accessible, reliable, and dynamic source of information.

WhatsApp, the world's most widely used instant messaging application, stands out for its broad reach, immediacy, and connectivity. With a message open rate of over 90%, far exceeding email's 20%, and an unparalleled ability to forward and viralize multimedia content, leading organizations and educational institutions are adopting this effective and simple way to reach their users.

According to the Vice-Rector for Communication and University Outreach, Miguel Baños, “we want this channel to be an informative benchmark for the entire university community and, to that end, in addition to continuously sharing relevant content, as we do on the website and other social networks, we will be testing new ways of connecting with our audiences.”

In addition to news, reports, and interviews related to university life, the WhatsApp-URJC channel will broadcast academic and scientific events and activities and serve as a dynamic calendar to inform users about calls for applications and important dates for registration processes, final degree project submissions, participation in Erasmus-MUNDE programs, and grant and scholarship applications, among other things. Users will also be able to react with emojis, vote in polls that interest them, and freely share the content.

On the other hand, with the intention of innovating in the field of digital narratives, the WhatsApp-URJC channel will experiment with new hypermedia languages and dynamic forms of participation of the university community, so that it becomes the useful, enjoyable and surprising space in which we all want to be.
