The Intelligent Buildings Congress is a meeting forum for construction and design professionals. The most important players in the sector meet to talk about the present and future of this type of building and the degree to which companies and professionals are involved.

This V edition aims to address the concept of Intelligent Building from a comprehensive and multidisciplinary point of view. The topics will be varied since some will be technical, regulatory and others related to business opportunities, contemplating solutions for both a new building and for a rehabilitation.

The exhibitions of professionals will cover the present and future of the sector in different formats. Among the most outstanding topics is innovation in design, architecture and engineering of Smart Buildings, technologies, solutions and systems for digital improvement such as home automation and projects for these buildings.

The URJC currently has the project 'SmartCampus' which Javier Orellana, technical director of UNEFE, will speak about at the congress. This initiative has a similar approach to that of other European universities, but it hopes to be a pioneer in Spain. The objective is to digitize the existing buildings (the university has approximately 50) with BIM methodology (Building Information Modeling). This methodology consists of the creation of digital models of buildings and facilities to centralize all the information that exists about the property and to be able to access it in a simpler and more practical way.

Driven by the Smart-E2 Chair and UNEFE, the project is divided into two phases. The first has consisted of making a digital model of an administrative building using the BIM methodology, incorporating in it the most important information existing in the University's asset databases. It has been successfully carried out in management building located on the Móstoles campus.

In the second phase, the aim is to model a teaching building with the incorporation of wireless IoT devices, designed to simultaneously record parameters of environmental quality and people's behavior. The purpose is the modeling of the buildings that implies their digitization and, therefore, it becomes accessible to any user.

The Congress will take place in the Official College of Architects of Madrid and will last all day. Places are limited, so you have to register before May 8. In addition, students, as well as unemployed professionals, will be able to purchase their ticket with a 50% discount.
