Five members of the URJC, Javier Dufour, Javier Orellana, Arturo Javier Vizcaíno, Ángel Peral and Natalia Mejorano, have written a book in collaboration with the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR). The central axis of the book are practical examples of action under the ISO 50.001 standard (international energy management standard) in public institutions and the tertiary sector.

Javier Orellana, energy manager of the URJC and co-author of the book, explains that the idea of writing this book was an initiative of AENOR itself: "it was they themselves who invited us to tell our story, because we are a public institution that represents the sector tertiary. Thus, we covered the two areas they wanted to cover”.

The Rey Juan Carlos University, as Orellana indicates, is a benchmark in energy management: "We were the first university in Spain to be certified under the ISO 50.001 standard, and this book places us as a benchmark in the market for both UNEFE and the University itself. college".

The purpose of the publication is to explain how the ISO standard can be implemented and serve as a reference book for other public or third-sector institutions. In this way, the URJC will be the “mirror in which many can be seen”, explains Orellana.

The five co-authors of the book, which was published in April, collaborated with Juan Manuel García, Manager of the AENOR Energy Sector. Each chapter was written by one of the five members of UNEFE, and refers to a different section of the ISO 50.001 standard.
