Newsroom

Throughout several months of rigorous training, the student will achieve a high degree of knowledge in the field of market processes, monetary economics, economic cycles and financial crises, the evolutionary study of institutions, the analysis of interventionism , and the processes of entrepreneurship and technological innovation.

The syllabus is made up of a central body of knowledge that will be the basis of a period of research organized under the direct supervision of a tutor, leading to the writing of an original quality work (Master's Thesis) in one of the main areas program study.

multidisciplinary approach

The approach is multidisciplinary. The degree is taught by professors of recognized prestige in the academic field and in their respective areas of work. The students of the program are characterized by their diverse origins and training (economists, businessmen, jurists, political scientists, engineers...), which greatly enriches the content of each one of the sessions and discussions within the classroom, and allows dealing with issues of debate from a wide variety of perspectives that will later materialize in research initiatives to be developed in the master's thesis and in future publications.

Similarly, the student body is characterized by the diversity of nationalities that comprise it. In each promotion of the master's degree, students and professionals from different countries of Europe (Germany, Italy, France, Holland... in addition to Spanish students), America (United States, Canada, Chile, Argentina, Mexico...) and Asia (China) coincide. , which generates an international and multicultural environment that not only significantly expands the students' network of contacts, but also allows them to approach problems from different perspectives and traditions.

Bet on research

On the other hand, the important commitment of the master's degree to academic research allows students to participate throughout the course in different study initiatives, which run parallel to the development of classes, sponsored by the teachers of the program. Thus, the official training itinerary of the degree is complemented by seminars given by specialists in each subject (some of them former students who today occupy prominent positions in the financial, business or academic fields), and by two consolidated research Congresses: one international (which the Master in Economics of the Austrian School celebrates annually together with the Technical University of Applied Sciences Lübeck in Germany) and another national (organized with the Juan de Mariana Institute). These congresses allow students from the different promotions of the program to present and debate the content of their research in an international and multidisciplinary context. The students of each promotion are invited to present the progress of their research in an environment in which established researchers within the profession participate.

Finally, since its creation, the Master in Economics of the Austrian School has had its own indexed academic journal, “Market Processes. European Journal of Political Economy”, which has become one of the program's 'flagships'. It is one of the few internationally established periodical publications that disseminates research carried out in the field and with the methodology that characterizes the tradition of the Austrian School.
