URJCmun TEEN, the United Nations Model aimed at high school students, will hold its second edition on the 16th, 17th and 18th of this month. On this occasion, the organization, made up exclusively of students, is committed to establishing five committees, four in Spanish and one in English; that will deal with current international issues such as environmental conservation, the prevention of bullying or the promotion of the circular economy.
This edition will be held in person at the Móstoles Campus under strict security measures due to the pandemic, which has been a challenge for the organizers. Also, this year there will be news compared to the previous year, since a special committee will be created for students in 1st and 2nd year of Compulsory Secondary Education.
The objective of the initiative is clear: to seek solutions to the problems that arise in the issues raised, always through dialogue, negotiation and understanding, respecting the positions of the different members of the committee. All this in order to reach a consensus for its resolution..
In the words of Ángel Fernández Merayo, General Director of URJCmun TEEN, this “is an event that aims to bring new generations closer to the international problems that future societies must face. The participants contribute to building the future, their future”.
In short, URJCmun TEEN is a project created by students for students interested in building a better future for the whole of global society, using dialogue and understanding as means.
A successful first edition
URJCmun TEEN was born as an initiative of the organizers of URJCmun, the United Nations Model with the highest participation at the national university level and among the ten largest in the world, with more than a thousand participants annually. After the success of the first edition held in March 2020, the promoters decided to organize a new event for this year.
Paula Mané, Secretary General of URJCmun TEEN, tells us that this is a very careful project from the beginning, both by the university and by the organization of the event. The trust placed in it by schools and institutes has been the reason for its growth during this last year.
